    • Methods and apparatuses are provided for facilitating determination of available spectrum. A method may include receiving a query originated by a white space device for an indication of available frequency spectrum at a location of the white space device. The method may further include determining whether the location of the white space device is within an area served by a first database. In an instance in which it is determined that the location of the white space device is not within the area served by the first database, the method may additionally include determining a second database and causing access information for the second database to be provided to the white space device. The determined second database may serve an area including the location of the white space device. Corresponding apparatuses are also provided.

    • A central node/database receives from each mth one of a plurality of M user devices at least one of geographic location information of the mth user device and type information of the mth user device. The node/database registers the M user devices to different groups according to at least one of location criteria based on the received geographic location information and type criteria based on the received type information. Then the node/database sends to each mth one of the plurality of M user devices a set of parameters that define a periodic time window that is specific to the group to which the mth user device is registered. The time window restricts times at which the mth user device can access a data source of spectrum use information. Balancing the number of user devices among the groups, spreads database accesses in time and overloads are less frequent and less severe.

    • A system and method for providing continuous multimedia broadcast multicast services over different localized areas, while also avoiding frequency interference. In various embodiments, a service provides reduced-quality data at the border of each localized area. In one approach, border cells of a single frequency network (SFN) broadcast reduced quality data, while more centralized cells in a SFN broadcast full quality data. In other embodiments, source data is coded by two layers—a baseline layer and at least one enhancement layer. Centralized cells in a SFN transmit both baseline and enhancement layers. Border cells broadcast only the baseline layer. Centralized cells and border cells use the same sub-band to broadcast baseline layer data in a bit-identical way. Non-overlapping sub-bands are used by border cells of neighboring SFNs to transmit the baseline layer.
