    • To provide a low-cost display device which can accurately detect a position touched by a finger. A display device displays an image by having display elements capable of performing electro-optic responses formed between conductible first and second substrates, and detects a contact position touched by a contact body by having a conductive impedance surface formed on the second substrate side. The display device includes: linearization pattern sections formed on the first substrate, which include a plurality of electrodes capable of detecting electric currents on a conductive impedance surface; and a conductive member which electrically connects the linearization pattern sections with the conductive impedance surface on the second substrate.

The relationship L2≦V(F2×∈21/2×100) is satisfied where a transmission path length between the timing controller and the signal driving portion is L2, a propagating speed of electromagnetic waves in a vacuum is V, a frequency of a signal transmitted between the timing controller and the signal line driving portion is F2, and a comparative dielectric constant of a transmission path medium between the timing controller and the signal line driving portion is ∈2. Thus, the occurrence of EMI noise can be suppressed, and the implementation cost of a display apparatus can be reduced.

    • An engaging portion, formed at an axial end of an intermediate member, is engageable with a slide sleeve. A cylinder has an elongated hole with an axial length longer than a shifting distance of the intermediate member. The slide sleeve includes an annular member and a slide member. The annular member has an inner cylindrical wall engageable with the engaging portion of the intermediate member and a projection extending in a radially outward direction passing through the elongated hole beyond an outer surface of the cylinder. The slide member is coupled around the outer surface of the cylinder and is slidable in the axial direction of the cylinder. One axial end of the slide member, positioned closer to a working tool, is engaged with the projection of the annular member. The other axial end of the slide member is urged toward the working tool by an urging member.

    • A focusing apparatus for performing the switching operation between the automatic focuse mode and the manual command focuse mode. The focusing apparatus includes a selection circuit which is provided between an automatic focusing circuit and a manual command focusing circuit for selectively deriving first or second drive signals therefrom so that either of the first or second drive signals is supplied to a drive device for allowing the movement of a focusing lens in the optical axis directions. The manual command focusing circuit is arranged to generate the second drive signal in response to a manipulation of a switch device, the output of which is also coupled to the selection circuit so that the switching operation is effected in accordance therewith. Also included in the focusing apparatus is a timing delay circuit coupled to the switch device so that the generation of the second drive signal is interrupted for a predetermined time period after the switching operation is effected between the automatic focuse mode and manual command focuse mode. This ensures the prevention of production of an undesired image on the switching operation.
