    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a construction method for an abutment with the reconstruction of a bridge extremely inhibiting the increase of the length of the bridge as compared to the old bridge while being capable of strengthening the strength of the abutment in the construction of the abutment with the reconstruction of the bridge and its abutment structure.
      SOLUTION: (a) An earth retaining wall 4 is placed to the rear of the existing abutment 2, (b) an excavation at a small stage is conducted and (c) a tensile reinforcing material 5 in which a tensile core material is inserted is driven to the earth retaining wall 4 of an excavating surface. (d) Processes in (b) and (c) are repeated, and a ground is excavated up to a specified depth while the tensile reinforcing material is driven, (e) a foundation pile 6 is installed in a space emptied by the excavation, and (f) the new abutment is constructed by placing abutment concrete so as to be connected to the tensile reinforcing material 5 and the earth retaining wall 4. (g) The existing abutment is removed, and (h) a new girder is stretched over the new abutment.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To increase the frictional resistance of ballast and prevent the level difference of rails due to the fluidity of ballast, by providing a rugged surface on which the ballast is fitted, on the contact surface of concrete sleepers with the ballast. SOLUTION: A rugged face on which ballast 2 is fitted, is provided on the bottom surface of concrete sleepers 1 of a rail road or the ballast is buried therein or stuck thereto. A rugged face is provided on the surface of a form corresponding to the bottom face of a sleeper and then concrete is placed to form projections and recession. And foamed styrol is laid on the bottom of a form and the ballast 2 is pressed therein and then concrete is placed in a thin ballast layer, in order to bury the ballast 2 on the bottom face of sleepers. Projections 5 are formed on the bottom face of concrete sleepers 1 in the right- angled direction against the acting direction of sliding forces to increase the receive area of pressure on the bottom face of sleepers. In this way, the level difference of rails are reduced.

    • PURPOSE:To make deformation small in quantity as well as to secure stability without impairing right-weight and easiness in execution by arranging materials which are comparatively high in compression stiffness within the inside of a light weight banking composed of materials small in compression stiffness to make it a composite structure with the materials for light weight banking. CONSTITUTION:The ground surface is excavated to a specified depth, a bottom concrete 17 is set up on the face of excavation 18, and furthermore, foamed styrol blocks 11 are piled up to a specified height. In the second place, wall panels 14 and 14 are set up, a plurality of vertical holes are concurrently provided for foamed styrol blocks 16 with a specified density by means of heating wires and the like. And said holes are filled with materials such as concrete, mortar, plastics and the like which are comparatively high in compression stiffness so that pile bodies 15 and 15 are thereby formed. This therefore permits vertical load applied after a banking has been constructed, to be mostly taken care of by the pile bodies 15 and 15 high in compression stiffness, thereby making it possible to make the quantity of deformation small to a lesser extent.

      SOLUTION: In this soil retaining construction method in which a large-sized sandbag and a restraining pile are used together, the collapsed surface 3A of the affected part 3 of an affected soil structure is reformed, a plurality of large-sized sandbags 5 which are heaped up and have respective vertical through-holes 5A and a restraining pile 4 inserted into the through-holes 5A are disposed at the affected part 3, a filler 6 is filled between the restraining pile 4 and the large-sized soil sandbags 5, a back-fill soil 7 is back-filled to the rear surfaces of the large-sized soil sandbags 5, and a surface protective work 8 is applied to the surfaces of the large-sized soil sandbags 5.
