摘要： A method for bonding a strip, such as a leg elastic or the like, to an opening on a web of material. The method includes providing a web that includes at least one opening and defines at least a first bonding surface adjacent each opening. For each opening the method includes: deforming the web to modify the shape of the opening, providing a strip defining a second bonding surface, bonding together at least portions of the first and second bonding surfaces of the modified opening and relaxing the web.

摘要： An absorbent article includes a moisture barrier formed of a formable, liquid impermeable material. The moisture barrier defines a basin having a width dimension, a length dimension greater than the width dimension, and a volume. The basin includes a floor having corrugations formed therein parallel to the width dimension. The absorbent article also includes an absorbent assembly disposed within the basin and a liner formed of a liquid permeable material bonded to the moisture barrier and sandwiching the absorbent assembly therebetween. The corrugations permit the absorbent article to bend inwardly, for example to conform to the shape of the wearer, without bunching the moisture barrier along the portions facing the wearer and without substantially stretching or deforming the floor of the moisture barrier.

摘要： The invention provides an efficient method and apparatus for applying linear segments of elastic to a base material transverse to the direction the base material is moving in a production line. This object is obtained by providing an apparatus with means for sequentially and repeatedly gripping an elastic strip, pulling that elastic strip across the base material, and then releasing the elastic strip. At about the same time the elastic strip is released, it is cut to size. Also at this same time, the elastic strip is brought into contact with the base material. Preferably, the elastic strip is brought into contact with the base material by virtue of rotation of the gripping, pulling and releasing means.
