    • In a hydraulic motor vehicle servo brake comprising a tandem master cylinder (11), a brake valve (17) is provided which upon actuation through the brake pedal (16) applies, in controlled manner, pressure medium supplied by a hydraulic pump (18) connected to an intake reservoir (27) to the first master piston (24) and to a brake circuit (III) directly, to provide there a controlled pressure. A wheel slip brake control system at an initial slip of one or more motor vehicle wheels, will reduce automatically the brake force on the motor vehicle wheels to a value just sufficient to turn the wheels. Two switch valves (21, 21') to which the controlled pressure is applied are normally closed and open upon a beginning slip of one or several motor vehicle wheels to apply the controlled pressure to the master cylinder (11) from where the pressure medium is passed by way of two check valves (23, 123) to the pressure chambers located behind the master pistons (24, 80). The switch valves are actuated by way of a differential pressure control circuit (148) in response to exceeding a predetermined pressure difference in the two pressure chambers (76, 176) such that the switch valve connected to a defective brake circuit will be closed.

A stationary projection on the interior end of the master cylinder protrudes into the positioning sleeve and cooperates with the sleeve and master cylinder piston to vary the master cylinder volume. A hydraulic change-over valve directs pressurized fluid during operation of the slip-control valves to the positioningsleeve in opposition to the actuating force to reset the brake pedal and supply pressurized fluid to the wheel brake lines to replenish fluid depleted during operation of the slip control cycle.

The wheel brakes (33, 34, 35, 36) connected to the brake circuits may be pressurized by a tandem master cylinder (3), on the one hand, and by an auxiliary pressure source, on the other hand. The auxiliary pressure source consists of an electric-motor-driven pressure medium pump (20) and of an accumulator (21). Each working chamber of the tandem master cylinder (3) hydraulically communicates with a brake valve (16) which may generate a dynamic pressure which, upon the actuation of the brake, will be supplied to wheel brakes (33, 34, 35, 36) by a switching-over action of inlet valves (30, 31). The inlet valves (30, 31) are additionally controllable by a differential pressure alarm switch (44) connected at the working chambers of the tandem master cylinder (3). This prevents dynamic pressure medium from entering a defective brake circuit, the intact brake circuit remaining operative in the usual manner.

An auxiliary supply conduit supplies the auxiliary energy to the wheel brake actuating cylinders so that the latter can be operated in a dynamic manner. A normally closed return valve is interposed in the return conduit from the respective wheel brake actuating cylinders and can be opened, either directly or indirectly, by the auxiliary energy during the antiskid control operation, so that the pressure from the wheel brake operating cylinder to be controlled can be relieved to the low-pressure supply reservoir while rendering static operation of the wheel brake actuating cylinders possible in its normal closed position assumed when no antiskid control action is needed. The pressure of the auxiliary energy hydraulic fluid can be generated by a hydraulic pump which is operated only during the antiskid control action, or the auxiliary energy supply system can be operated on a continuous basis, in which case the auxiliary hydraulic fluid is supplied to the hydraulic braking circuit only when the need for an antiskid control action arises.

    • In an auxiliary power assisted master cylinder arrangement for a vehicle brake system to generate a controlled brake pressure in associated wheel brake cylinders, there is provided a brake valve with a preceding servo travel simulator to effect a control of the wheel brake cylinders of a vehicle. In one construction of the arrangement, there is interposed between two master cylinder units a pedal-operable device including mechanical cross links connecting with the master cylinder units as well as another cross link connecting with the brake valve. The brake valve is movable into engagement with the servo travel simulator, while the pedal-operable device, under normal braking conditions, is acted upon by the controlled pressure from an auxiliary power source in opposition to the pedal pressure and includes a lock providing for interlocking of all mechanical links in the event of a failure of auxiliary power. In another construction, each master cylinder unit is preceded by a second lock which is normally released with auxiliary power available and, in the event of a failure of the auxiliary power, couples the master cylinder units with the associated cross links at least in the direction of pedal operation. The present invention is advantageously employed as a brake slip control apparatus.

    • A brake pressure control valve for a vehicular brake system comprises a stepped piston having a large-diameter portion guided in a bore of a threaded housing plug and a small-diameter portion guided in a bore formed in a housing for the control valve. At the end of the piston adjacent an inlet, an axial channel has a valve seat in a cooperative relation with a closure member. The piston is displaceable from its inactive position in a valve closing direction against the force of a valve spring bearing against a fixed stop. The fixed stop is fastened to the threaded plug to rovide a predetermined preload of the valve spring. With the aid of the threaded plug, the valve closure travel can be adjusted very precisely. The pressure control valve is formed by two constructional units each of which can be preassembled, thereby providing ease of assembly, mounting and replacement.

    • A brake shoe support for a spot-type disc brake having a caliper embracing the brake disc. The caliper supports the brake shoe remote from the brake actuation device. The brake shoe includes a projection which is disposed in a supporting bore in the caliper and is held in position by a bolt having a radial groove which is engaged by a retaining spring secured to the caliper. The brake shoe also includes a brake pad carrier plate and a brake pad with the brake pad having a first portion parallel to the brake disc and a second portion perpendicular to the brake disc extending over the edge of the brake pad carrier plate. The second portion abuts a supporting surface provided in the caliper adjacent the end of the supporting bore adjacent the brake pad carrier plate to prevent twisting of the brake shoe.
