摘要： An organosol comprising a high molecular weight (co)polymeric steric stabilizer covalently bonded to an insoluble, high molecular weight thermoplastic (co)polymeric core is described which has the ability to form a three dimensional gel of controlled rigidity. The gel provides improved liquid ink or liquid electrophotographic/electrographic toner compositions by increasing sedimentation stability of the colorant, without compromising print quality or ink transfer performance. The gel is formed by manipulating the solubility parameter difference between the stabilizer and the solvent to achieve optimum performance of the dispersion.

摘要： A novel therapeutic instrument and technique for delivering thermal energy to a target tissue volume or site in an interior of a patient's body in a “non-invasive” manner for medical purposes, such as selective cell damage to thereafter cause population of the extracellular compartment of the injury site with a collagen fiber matrix. An exemplary embodiment of the invention is a catheter-like device dimensioned for transurethral introduction. The distal working end has radiused laterally-extending elements that are deployable to engage target tissues around the patient's sphincter from both within the bladder and within the urethra. RF electrodes are carried on the working faces of the opposing laterally-extending elements for delivering thermal energy to the target tissues. The working end is capable of site-specific compression of the target tissue to decrease the level of extracellular fluid (ECF) of the tissue to increase its resistance to RF energy, thus allowing the device to thermally treat (damage cells) in subsurface tissue sites without ablating surface tissues.

摘要： An apparatus and method for removing back-plated developer from a development device in a liquid electrographic imaging system make use of a blade disposed to remove back-plated developer from the development device, and a brush disposed to remove the back-plated developer from the blade and redisperse the back-plated developer into a developer liquid supply. The brush includes a shaft and bristles disposed about the shaft. The shaft preferably is rotated to drive the bristles against the blade. In this manner, the bristles remove the back-plated developer from the blade and redisperse the back-plated developer within the developer liquid supply. The bristles can be formed from a substantially resilient material to generate a flicking action upon deflection and recovery. This flicking action facilitates redispersion of the back-plated developer into the developer liquid supply. The brush preferably is submerged in the developer liquid residing in the developer liquid supply, thereby avoiding significant drying of the developer liquid on the brush and significant splattering of the developer liquid by the brush. Submersion also enables the bristles to provide a churning action that aids in redispersion. The apparatus and method are capable of providing enhanced cleaning efficiency, as well as effective redispersion of back-plated developer for recovery and reuse. A bias potential can be applied to the brush to further aid in effective removal of back-plated developer.

The toner particles comprise a polymeric binder comprising at least one amphipathic graft copolymer comprising one or more S material portions and one or more D material portions. The toner composition additionally comprises a charge control adjuvant that is an acid or a base. These compositions have surprising bulk conductivity and charge per mass properties, particularly as the toner particles are depleted from the toner composition during printing operations.
