    • An apparatus and method for discharging a voltage in a battery pack. The apparatus includes a discharge resistance connected to a discharge target battery of plural batteries in the battery pack and discharging a voltage of the discharge target battery, a switching section for connecting the discharge target battery and the discharge resistance, a voltage measuring section for measuring a voltage of the discharge target battery, and a control section for controlling the switching section depending on the measured voltage value of the battery. The method includes measuring a voltage of the discharge target battery, calculating a PWM duty rate of a switching section connecting the discharge target battery and a discharge resistance using the measured voltage value and a value of the discharge resistance, and controlling the switching section based on the duty rate to maintain an energy consumed in the discharge resistance to be constant.

    • A system and a method for determining a bus address for a controller within a network are provided. The method includes coupling a first set of pins of a wire harness connector to a second set of pins of a PCB connector of the controller. The method further includes sampling voltages of a portion of the first set of pins of the PCB connector to determine a wire harness ID utilizing a microprocessor. The method further includes accessing a look-up table from a memory device to select the bus address for the controller using the wire harness ID utilizing the microprocessor. The look-up table includes a plurality of bus addresses correspondingly associated with a plurality of wire harness IDs. The method further includes storing the selected bus address in the memory device utilizing the microprocessor.

    • There are disclosed embodiments for controlling an operation of an ultrasound system based on an impact applied thereto. In the ultrasound system designed to operate in a plurality of diagnostic modes, a user may be verified based on the impact pattern applied to the ultrasound system. Also, a desirable diagnostic mode of the ultrasound system may be selected and executed based on the impact pattern. The ultrasound system may include an ultrasound diagnostic unit to form ultrasound images based on ultrasound echo signals reflected from a target object. An impact detecting unit may detect impacts applied to the ultrasound diagnostic unit from a user to thereby output impact pattern information. A control unit may control an operation of the ultrasound diagnostic unit based on the impact pattern information so that the diagnostic mode corresponding to the impact pattern information may be executed.
