    • A heat sink clip (10) includes a body (14) and a fastener (17). The body includes a central pressing portion (142), and first and second spring portions (144, 154) extending from opposite ends of the pressing portion. A connecting section (156) extends outwardly and upwardly from an end of the second spring portion, and then outwardly and downwardly. The uppermost portion of the connecting section forms a ridge (168). A longitudinal slot (162) is defined in the second spring portion and the connecting section, to provide elastic deformability. The end of the connecting section forms a pair of barbs (158). The fastener has a vertical arm (170), and an operation portion (177) extending away from the arm. The arm defines an opening (175) for engaging with the connecting section of the body, thereby attaching the fastener to the body.

    • A heat sink assembly of the present invention includes a printed circuit board (10), a retention module (20), four pins (30), a heat sink (40) and a clip (50). The printed circuit board (10) has an electronic package (100) mounted thereon. The retention module (20) is integrally formed, substantially rectangular, and has a symmetrical configuration. The retention module (20) defines an opening (26) therein for surrounding the electronic package (100). Four positioning holes (28) are defined in four corners of the retention module (20). In assembly of the heat sink assembly, the pins (30) are interferentially positioned in the positioning holes (28) of the retention module (20). Portions of the pins (30) extending out beyond the retention module (20) are welded to the printed circuit board (10). The clip (50) cooperates with the retention module (20) to press the heat sink (40) against the electronic package (100).

When the second leg is pressed down toward the socket, the spring biases the second leg upwardly, so that the second leg is resiliently engaged with the other ear. Thus, the heat sink is secured between the socket and the retaining clip.

    • A heat dissipation assembly includes a heat sink (10), a fan (70), and a mounting device for attaching the fan to the heat sink. The mounting device includes four clips (30), and four shafts (50) pivotably connecting the clips to the heat sink. Each clip includes a main body (31), a top pressing portion (39), and a bottom mounting portion (43). A tab (45) is upwardly formed from a center of the mounting portion. Two parallel connecting portions (33) extend outwardily from two side edges of the main body respectively. The tabs of the mounting portions of the clips abut against the fan in corresponding through holes (72) thereof. The pressing pardons of the clips press an upper face of the fan at corresponding through holes thereof. Thus the fan is securely mounted on the heat sink between the pressing portion and the mounting portion of each of the clips.

    • A heat dissipating assembly includes a CPU (35) mounted on a motherboard (30), a fan (20), two clips (60), a heat sink (10), two fasteners (50), a back plate (40) and two posts (70). The heat sink includes a base (12) and a plurality of fins (14). Two ears (16) are formed at respective opposite sides of the base. The clips mount the fan to the heat sink. The back plate is placed under the motherboard, and the posts are sequentially extended through the back plate, the motherboard and the ears of the heat sink. The fasteners are retained on the ears of the heat sink around the respective posts. The fasteners are rotated, causing the posts to resiliently press the fasteners on the ears, and resiliently press the back plate on the motherboard. Thus the heat sink is securely attached to the CPU on the motherboard.
