    • An endoscope system comprises plural video processor devices for an endoscope prepared for every video endoscope, a video signal switching device connected to each of the video processor devices for an endoscope, and a monitor connected to the video signal switching device. The video signal switching device comprises two video signal input terminals respectively connected to the video processor devices, a flip flop for generating an alternative switching signal in accordance with the rotational position of a switching dial, two switches of which one ends respectively connected to the video signal input terminals and which opens and closes in accordance with the switching signal generated from this flip flop, and a video signal output terminal connected to the other ends of these two switches.

    • An image-signal clamping circuit processes image signals obtained from a solid state image sensor provided at a distal end of an electronic endoscope which do not have a direct-current component to restore a direct-current component thereof. The clamping circuit is arranged such that the restoration of a direct-current component of an image signal can be properly and stably carried out. The clamping circuit includes a sample-and-hold circuit to temporarily store an image signal, an analog-to-digital converter to output digital image signals, a device for digitally correcting the digital image data, and a digital-to-analog converter to output corrected analog image signals. The pedestal level of the corrected output analog image signal approximates a reference pedestal level.

    • An automatic sensitivity controller for use in an electronic still camera system which performs flash photography. This device is designed to expand the range of the photographable subject-to-camera distance even if a small-emission electronic flash is employed and is provided with an image pickup device, a distance metering element for measuring the camera-to-subject distance, a variable-gain amplifier circuit having a control terminal and amplifying a video signal supplied from the image pickup device at a gain determined in response to a control signal applied to the control terminal; and a gain control device for applying a control signal relating to a measured value of the camera-to-subject distance to the control terminal.
