    • A wavelength locker includes: a birefringent plate for separating light emitted from a light source into two beams of light which are approximately in parallel to each other; a first light receiving element for directly receiving one of the two beams of light separated by the birefringent plate; a λ/4 plate and an etalon filter through which other one of the two beams of light separated by the birefringent plate passes; and a second light receiving element for receiving the other one of the two beams of light which has passed through the etalon filter. The λ/4 plate has an optic axis tilted at 45 degrees with respect to a polarization direction of light incident on the λ/4 plate, changes a polarization direction of light, which has been reflected by the etalon filter and incident on the λ/4 plate, such that the reflected light does not return to the light source after passing through the birefringent plate, and emits the resultant light.

    • An object of the invention is to provide a control apparatus and control method for an optical switch with a three-dimensional structure using MEMS mirrors, that can accurately compensate for a change in characteristic due to a temperature variation from an initial setting time, to perform the high speed switching of optical paths. To this end, the control apparatus of the invention, stores in advance in an initial value memory, information of reference temperature related to an inclination angle of each of the MEMS mirrors corresponding to set optical paths, and when a switching command of the optical paths is received, accesses the initial value memory to acquire the information related to the inclination angle at the reference temperature, and also accesses a temperature sensor to read out a temperature of the optical switch, and based on the information acquired from the initial value storing section and the temperature read out from the temperature detecting section, calculates a drive voltage in which a deviation due to the temperature variation from the reference temperature is compensated for, and gives this to the corresponding MEMS mirror as an initial value of the drive voltage.

    • The invention is aimed at providing an optical switch using tilt mirrors, in which easy mounting of the optical components is possible by simplifying the construction, and in which a short spatial propagation distance for the light beam is realized. To this end, the optical switch using tilt mirrors of the present invention comprises; a collimator array and a tilt mirror array each formed with an input section and an output section aligned and integrated, and a shift type turn-back mirror that shifts the optical path of the incident light in a predetermined direction and turns back and outputs this. The construction is such that the light input to the input section of the collimator array is reflected by the input section of the tilt mirror array so that the optical path is changed, and is then sent to the shift type turn-back mirror, and the light which has been shifted and turned back by the shift type turn-back mirror is reflected by the output section of the tilt mirror array and output from the output section of the collimator array.
