    • Two LED arrays are connected in parallel, and the both ends of the parallel connection are connected to an alternating-current power supply AC. In each of the LED arrays, a capacitor and three LED blocks (the total of four components) are connected in series. In each of the LED blocks, two LEDs are connected in opposite directions. Connection points between components included in one of the two LED arrays are individually connected to connection points between components included in the other one of the two LED arrays via varistors. Even in the event that a disconnection failure occurs at any one of the LEDs, a path of a current via one of the varistors is formed for another one of the LEDs which is connected in series to the LED at which the disconnection failure has occurred. This can prevent the other LEDs from being turned off. Even in the event that a short-circuit failure occurs at any one of the varistors, the normal lighting operations of the LEDs can be maintained unless the LEDs have defects.

When negative voltage is applied to a memory gate, electrons held by a charge retention layer are emitted through hot carriers generated in a nonvolatile memory cell channel region for erasing; and when positive voltage is applied to the memory gate, electrons are injected into the charge retention layer through hot carriers generated in the nonvolatile memory cell channel region for writing and controls the generation and suppression of hot carriers by means of bit line voltage on each bit line.

    • A service searching system for searching a service in a distributed system comprises a wireless server device and a wireless terminal device. The wireless server device is connected to a network and implements a master search service. On the other hand, the wireless terminal device implements a slave search service, and is capable of communicating with the server by wireless and utilizing the master search service. Besides, the wireless terminal device comprises a storage means that caches service objects obtained through the master search service. In addition, in searching the slave search service for a service, the wireless terminal device begins by searching the service objects cached in the storage means. In the case where the service is not detected, the wireless terminal device searches the master search service. The service objects are cached by being related to priority data. Thereby, there is provided a service searching system comprising a wireless terminal device, which is intended to search for a service in a distributed system in which a range of services are distributed in a network, wherein it is possible to cut down a service-searching time and costs, and further, it is possible to cut down communication interruptions by noise etc. in the wireless communication section compared to the conventional one.

    • The image heating apparatus for heating an image formed on a recording material includes a heater, a supporting member for supporting the heater, a flexible rotatable member rotated while contacting with the heater, and a backup member contacting with the rotatable member. The recording material passes between the rotatable member and the backup member, and upstream of the heater of the supporting member with respect to the direction of movement of the recording material, there are provided a protruding portion protruding more toward the backup member side than the surface of contact between the heater and the rotatable member, and a groove portion provided between the protruding portion and the heater and depressed more than the surface of contact of the heater with the rotatable member, and a lubricant is contained in the groove portion. Thereby, the driving torque of the rotatable member can be suppressed.
