摘要： PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To highly efficiently purify NOx in a lean burn exhaust gas without providing large effect to fuel consumption, by arranging a NOx adsorption catalyst in an exhaust gas flow conduit to adsorb and trap NOx in oxidation atmosphere of lean exhaust gas, and by generating reduction atmosphere to regenerate the adsorption catalyst. SOLUTION: Suction air to an engine is filtered by an aircleaner 1, measured by an air flow sensor 2, then passed through a throttle valve 3, and is supplied to the engine 99 as mixture with fuel injected from an injector 5. This mixture is ignited by an ignition plug 6 controlled with a signal from an ECU 25 and is combusted. A NOx adsorption catalyst 18 is arranged in an exhaust gas purification system to which combustion gas is introduced, and NOx is purified NOx adsorption ability in a lean operation. In the lean operation, the ECU 25 judges NOx purification ability of the catalyst 18, and when the NOx purification ability is lowered, air-fuel ratio of combustion is shifted to the rich side to recover the NOx adsorption ability of the catalyst 18.

摘要： PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To effectively make the harmful components such as NOx in leans burn exhaust gas harmless by first chemically adsorbing NOx on an adsorption catalyst after creating a state in which more oxidizer than reducer is present, and then creating a state wherein an equal or greater amount of reducer than oxidizer is present, and reducing the adsorbed NOx to N2 . SOLUTION: While an engine is in operation, output signals from various sensors are input to an ECU 25 where an operational air-fuel ratio is determined through the evaluation of the state of internal combustion operation and the state of a NOx adsorption catalyst 18, so as to maintain a fuel concentration in the mixture at a predetermined value by controlling an injector 5. At this time, if the engine is in lean burn operation, the presence or lack of NOx adsorption ability of the NOx adsorption catalyst is determined. If the NOx catalyst has NOx adsorption capability, a state wherein the amount of oxidizer is greater than that of the reducer is created so as to chemically adsorb NOx on the adsorption catalyst 18. On the other hand, if the NOx catalyst lacks NOx adsorption capability, the air-fuel ratio is shifted to the rich side for a predetermined duration to create a state where there is equal or greater amount of reducer than oxidizer so as to make the NOx absorbed by the adsorption catalyst 18 react with the reducer to reduce NOx to N2 .

摘要： PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent SOx poisoning effectively by constituting an SOx capturing material of a constituent of one kind of material selected from the platinum group for oxidizing SO2 in exhaust gas to SO3 and an SOx capturing constituent of one kind of material selected from titanium, zirconium, iron, nickel, silver, zinc and tin. SOLUTION: Combustion exhaust gas is guided to an exhaust system, and the exhaust system is provided with an SOx capturing material 17 and a lean NOx catalyst is installed in a downstream thereof. The SOx capturing material 17 contains a constituent for oxidizing SO2 in the exhaust gas to SO. and a constituent for capturing SOx . The constituent for oxidizing SO2 is constituted of one kind selected from the platinum group (noble metal) of platinum, rhodium, palladium and the like and the constituent for capturing SOx is constituted of one kind selected from titanium, zirconium, iron, nickel, silver, zinc and tin. By such a constitution, SOx poisoning can be effectively prevented so that purification of the exhaust gas can be effected well.

SOLUTION: This catalyst is an exhaust gas purification catalyst produced by depositing alkaline earth metals and titanium as active components in a porous carrier. As the alkaline earth metals, magnesium, calcium, strontium, and barium may be used and in the case strontium is used, especially preferable result can be obtained. As the porous carrier, alumina, silica, etc., may be used and in the case alumina is used, especially preferable result can be obtained. Consequently, a catalyst having low affinity with SO2 and high affinity for NOX can be produced. In other words, an exhaust gas purification catalyst with high SOX resistance and NOX purifying function can be obtained.

摘要： PURPOSE:To simplify manufacturing equipment and to make supply operation simple by supplying purified water obtained by recovering steam evaporated using solar energy as a carbon dioxide photoreduction reaction substance. CONSTITUTION:A reaction water tank 4 and a supply water tank 6 are prepared from a vinyl chloride resin and a light pervious member 9a is constituted of flat glass (soda lime glass). Dilute sulfuric acid 5 is received in the reaction water tank 4 and tap water 7 is introduced into the supply water tank 6 through a water supply passage 6. Next, carbon dioxide is allowed to flow to a carbon dioxide reaction tank 12 and, when a test is intermittently conducted in such a state that an anode 2 is irradiated with the sunlight, the water in the supply water tank is evaporated by the sunlight to be condensed on the inner wall surface of the light pervious member and condensed water is supplied to the reaction water tank 4 along the inclined surface of the member 9a. Methane, formaldehyde and methanol are formed on a cathode side. There is no difference between the production amounts of a reaction product immediately after and before the test and supplied purified water does not obstruct the photoreduction reaction of carbon dioxide.
