    • PURPOSE:To reduce the temperature increase of the horizontal deflection coil by using a vertical deflection coil prepared by twisting a few conductors together and then twisting several of thus prepared strand groups together. CONSTITUTION:A deflection york for a cathode-ray tube is made by winding a horizontal deflection coil 2 and a vertical deflection coil 3 around the slots 5 of a core 4. The horizontal deflection coil 2 is a quadruple Litz wire consisting of 3 strands and prepared, for example, by twisting three strands together and then twisting four of thus prepared strand groups together. The vertical deflection coil 3 is a triple Litz wire consisting of 3 strands and prepared by twisting three strands together and then twisting three of thus prepared strand groups together. Owing to the above structure, the skin effect between the horizontal and the vertical coils 2 and 3 is reduced and the increase of loss resistance resulting from the influence of adjacent parallel conductors is reduced. Consequently, it is possible to reduce the temperature increase of the horizontal deflection coil 2 during driving of high deflection frequency.
