    • A system for displaying the volume label text of a storage apparatus and a method thereof is provided. The present system connects electrically the system interface to the storage apparatus and executes the transform program. The present method comprises starting up a storage apparatus, detecting whether a graph volume label information is loaded or not, checking the sort of the graph volume label information, checking whether the display text is based on a volume label format or not, checking whether the text code of the volume label matches or not, and displaying the graph information of the volume label. The present invention can utilize the fonts and the code of the fonts that are included in the application system, transforming them to the format that is compatible with the display unit of the storage apparatus, and saving it to a specified location in the storage apparatus.

    • The present invention describes a storage apparatus with a function for displaying volume information with at least one built-in storage medium or connecting to at least one outside storage medium, which has a reference block to save the distribution of volume resource. The storage apparatus has an analysis control module, a display unit and a display driving interface. The analysis control module is used to read the reference block and scan the storage medium data to analyze the usage situation, and obtaining latest storage volume information and transmit a display start signal to the display driving interface. Then the display driving interface triggers the display unit, which can display the storage volume information. Therefore, the storage apparatus possesses processing function about volume information and reduces the load of the application system end. The display unit is a bistable display unit that can display on-line, off-line or power off.

    • This invention provides a device combining a slim CD-ROM drive and a flash memory card drive, which utilizes the unused space in a slim CD-ROM drive to mount a flash memory card socket to form a combined device. It comprises of a seat with the first containing space and the second containing space. The first containing space hosts a circuit board and a driving unit, a standard CD-ROM drive with a panel on the front and the panel has a opening against the second containing space, a flash memory socket in the second containing space and its slot faces against the said opening of the panel. The socket can hold multi types of flash memory cards, including SD, MMC, and MS cards. Furthermore, there are multi PINs in the socket and they are connected to the circuit board on one end and contact the flash memory card on the other end to support access to the flash memory card.

The microprocessor recognizes the supported interface mode of every flash memory connected with the memory interface in an initial setting process, and individually sets the corresponding interface mode setting value into the interface mode controller. Thus, when the flash memory apparatus is operating in a normal operation state, the interface mode controller can output the corresponding interface mode setting value according to the present enabled flash memory, and the memory interface can adjust and switch the interface mode according to the interface mode setting value outputted by the interface mode controller. Thereby, the present invention can achieve the purpose whereby the flash memory apparatus can speed up accessing and increase efficiency.

    • An electronic memory device includes a controller and a memory unit. The controller includes a micro processor, a host interface, a memory unit interface connected to the memory unit, a data cache area for provisionally storing data, an ECC unit coupled to the memory unit for testing whether there is any error bit in the data or not, and an error correcting unit coupled to the memory unit. If an error bit in the data is found and can be dealt by the ECC unit, the error bit is then directly recovered by the ECC unit. However, if the error bit exceeds beyond the processing capability of the ECC unit, the error correcting unit is selected to primarily invert predetermined data bit till the number of the error can be successfully recovered by the ECC unit.

    • A method for memory space management is disclosed. It uses a resident program loaded into an operation system or the controller of a storage device to monitor the storage space and the resource allocation of the file system of the storage device. The status of the logical address with an erased and invalid data mapped with a physical block is checked via a L2P mapping table. By using a data erase instruction, the controller modifies the L2P mapping table to cancel the link relation between the physical block and the logical address and erase the physical block to release the memory space. Finally, the check location is stored for a next check. The method for memory space management improves the access speed and the usage life of the storage device.
