    • A cylinder lock 60 (such as a euro cylinder lock) has two cams 66 and 68, both coaxial with and connectable to a rotatable lock driving member 63, where the first cam is adapted to operate a locking mechanism upon rotation, and the second cam 68 is associated with means for indicating the locked or unlocked status of the lock. The two cams may be spaced apart, and the second cam may have a C-shaped body portion 68a, so as to be attachable to the lock driving member through snap-on. Lock status may be indicated using a slidable cam follower (80, figs. 23A-23C) displacable by rotation of the second cam. The cam follower may have locked and unlocked indicia (81, 82, fig. 23A) that are visible through a viewing aperture depending on the status of the lock. A sensor may detect direction of movement of the second cam, possibly by using two adjacent sensors that detect the cam, as it moves past each sensor, sequentially in an order depending on the rotation direction.

    • A window or door is arranged so that a magnetic field varies with motion of the moveable part. The change in the magnetic field is detected and used to determine the position of the moveable element. The system is configured to operate in a calibration and a normal mode, where during calibration a reference value, associated with a first predetermined position of the moving element, is registered and used in the normal mode to determine the position of the moving element. One of the magnet and magnetic sensor may be mounted to the leaf of the door or window, and the other component mounted to the frame. Alternative mounting positions include the handle, the locking drive rail and the keep. During calibration a user interface may be used by the user to indicate when the moveable element is in the first predetermined position. Multiple predetermined positions may be used during calibration. A secondary detection system may be provided and may be used to determine if the leaf can be opened from outside. If the leaf is closed then the secondary system may be used to place the system in a power-saving mode. Various locking cylinders and mechanisms are also disclosed.

    • A system that detects the position of at least one moveable element, such as a leaf, of a window or door comprises a processor 24 and at least one sensor for sensing a magnetic field, such as a magnetometer 22. The sensor is configured such that the magnetic field sensed changes as the moveable element moves. The processor receives output signals associated with the sensed magnetic field from the sensor and determines the position of the at least one moveable element. The system is configured to operate in a calibration mode and a normal mode. In the calibration mode, the system registers an output value from the sensor when the moveable element is at a first predetermined position as a corresponding first reference value. In the normal mode, the processor uses the first reference value in determining the position of the moveable element. Locking mechanisms, cylinder locks, a detection assembly and a handle assembly are also disclosed.
