    • A shaft is borne in a standard by an intermediate member and a supporting bearing so that the shaft may follow without constraint lateral shifts of the supporting bearing by tilts about a plurality of small angles located in different planes. This effect is achieved by providing one of two guiding rings for the shaft within the intermediate member with two small sliding projections. These projections may be vertically arranged on a diameter of the intermediate member, which in turn is mounted to the standard by two small seat-engaging surfaces which are horizontally arranged on a diameter of the intermediate member. The apparatus is preferably used with shaft angle encoders for theodolites.

    • A mobile crusher (2) is provided that can be displaced on four caterpillars and that includes a supporting frame (20), a large hopper (31), an apron conveyor (32), a sizer (34) and an intermediate conveyor (36) for use in strip-mining. The material is received by the shovel (1) of a shovel excavator or a wheel loader, is fed to the crusher (2), crushed and is then transferred onto a conveyor plant via a discharge conveyor system. The crusher (2) has to follow at the same cycle in which the shovel excavator moves forward during an advance in mining. In order to obtain a good maneuverability of the crusher (2), the two front caterpillars (22) are driven and can be steered like a two-caterpillar chassis. As the crusher (2) is subject to high loads, all components have to have a robust design. For this purpose, the individual functional groups are accommodated in a stable supporting frame (20). The crushed material is transferred onto a subsequent bench conveyor via an evolving conveyor directly connected to the mobile crusher (2), a transfer conveyor or a mobile bridge. The plant can be displaced while under full useful load.

    • A surface mining and testing apparatus and system provides for the adaptation of a surface miner to the specific geological conditions of a new area of use. The special features of the surface miner are the arrangement of the milling roller (5) in front of the chassis (1) in the direction of mining, the undershot direction of rotation of the milling roller (5), as well as the adjustability of the milling roller (5) in its height and transverse slope in relation to the level. These functional features are accomplished with the testing apparatus in order to obtain the same kinematic conditions as in the surface miner. To make it possible to extrapolate the results obtained with the testing apparatus to the surface miner, the parameters overall weight, drive output and throughput of the testing apparatus are used as constant, lower ratios in relation to the surface miner. The circumferential velocity of the cutting tools (13) and the force acting on each of the individual cutting tools (13) shall be equal in the testing apparatus and the surface miner. To achieve this, the velocity of travel of the apparatus, which is also the rate of feed, as well as the speed of rotation of the roller, which determines the circumferential velocity of the cutting tools (13), which is also the cutting speed at the same time, are variable. Since the testing apparatus is substantially smaller than the surface miner and the changing of relevant parameters of the apparatus is simpler, costs are saved during the technical adaptation of the surface miner to the specific geological conditions of the site of use.

    • A continuously operating surface miner designed basically with a milling roller for the accurate, selective mining of sedimentary beds. The parameters cutting height, cutting width and feed speed are decisive for the performance capacity of surface miners. How the miner begins a block to be mined, how it finishes it and changes over to a new block to be mined is significant as well. The particular technology that can be used depends essentially on the mobility of the miner and the possibility of the engagement of the milling roller with the material to be mined. A three-caterpillar chassis for the miner and for arranging the milling roller (15a) in front of the said chassis in the direction of mining is provided. The milling roller (15a) is mounted on a transverse frame (15b) and is fastened by same to the superstructure (8) of the miner. High mobility of the miner is achieved due to this arrangement of the milling roller and the use of the chassis. The miner always travels on a clean, freshly cut level, so that natural unevennesses or ditches dug to drain surface water do not interfere with the travel. Another advantage of this design is that the miner can move backward without problems, can strip corners with ease and can also open basin-shaped deposits with a circular feed movement.
