    • A method of determining a position of a target is disclosed. A position of a targeting instrument relative to a friendly asset is established. A signal from the friendly asset is transmitted. The signal from the friendly asset is received at first and second locations associated with the targeting instrument. An orientation of the targeting instrument relative to the friendly asset is determined based on when the signal is received at the first and second locations. The position of the targeting instrument relative to the friendly asset is compared with the orientation of the targeting instrument relative to the friendly asset, to thereby determine the orientation of the target relative to the targeting instrument.

    • A GPS receiver employing advanced spoofer mitigation, geolocation and tracking capabilities through the use of a utility channel coupled in parallel to a tracking channel. The tracking channel tracks the direct signal while the utility channel tracks one or more spoofer signals. A signal from the primary channel is used by the utility channel to locate spoofer signals, with the primary channel operating independently of the utility channel. Three complementary spoofer mitigation methods are disclosed for identifying advanced repeaters and security-compromised spoofers, which may also be used for geolocation of such spoofers: (1) the consistency routine; (2) the nuller routine; and (3) the multiple antennas routine. An improved architecture is disclosed to allow easy upgrading and retrofitting of an existing GPS receiver.

    • Apparatus is disclosed for measuring creep stiffness of a specimen, for example, asphalt cement, or other viscoelastic material, having a flexural modulus greater than approximately 1,000 psi. The specimen and the lower part of a loading mechanism are submerged in a constant temperature coolant thereby providing buoyant support to the specimen, preventing it from deflecting under its own weight, as well as providing means for controlling the test temperature. The coolant temperature is maintained to within approximately +/-0.1.degree. C. of a desired temperature. The specimen, having known dimensions, is supported within the coolant on two spaced apart support members. A loading head actuated by an air bearing/pneumatic piston mechanism engages the specimen midway between the two support members. The deflection of the specimen is measured with an LVDT and the load imparted to the specimen by a load cell provided under at least one of the specimen support members. In order to prevent the buildup of frost on the apparatus, those components which extend from the air into the coolant are composed of low conductive material such as polymethylmethacrylate.

    • A packoff is located within a wellhead housing and a casing hanger. The packoff has an internal ratchet ring that engages a threaded profile on the exterior of the casing hanger thereby allowing installation of the packoff to be achieved by simply stabbing the packoff over the protruding neck of the casing hanger. This ratchet ring significantly reduces the rotation required during installation, decreasing potential for damage to seals. The casing hanger has an external lock ring that is inwardly biased. During installation of the packoff, the packoff acts to activate the lock ring to thereby force it outward. The lock ring is forced outward and into a recess formed in the interior of the wellhead housing. The lock ring and the ratchet ring locks the packoff and casing hanger into place with the wellhead housing without the need of external lockdown screws, thereby minimizing leak paths.
