This minimum stroke corresponds to a torque angle range of the camshaft in degrees of rotation during the opening actuation, in which, due to the shut-off valve, a control by the solenoid valve is not possible, whereby despite overlapping of engine valve opening times in a multi-cylinder engine, any overlapping of control times for the drain passages of individual engine valves, predetermined by the solenoid valve is prevented.

    • In a method and device for the open-loop control of an internal-combustion engine, the change in the torque caused by an influencing of the ignition angle is compensated for by a correspondingly adjusted influencing of the air inducted by the internal-combustion engine. Thus, the accelerator-pedal characteristic is hardly influenced in the case of a change in the ignition angle. The method and device can be used, for example, to accelerate the heating up of a catalytic converter after start-up of the internal-combustion engine. To reinforce the heating operation and to reduce emission, an intervention in the air/fuel ratio can be made at the same time, and a switching signal can be produced, for example, for a secondary air pump. The air inducted by the internal-combustion engine is generally influenced by an idle-speed actuator, which is arranged in a by-pass duct leading to the throttle valve. In the case of internal-combustion engines having an electronically controlled throttle valve, in place of the idle-speed actuator, the throttle valve can also be influenced accordingly. Weighting factors which depend on the operating state of the internal-combustion engine, are used to weight the influencing of the ignition angle, the idle-speed actuator, the throttle valve, and/or the air/fuel ratio.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce harmful emission after catalyst especially in the low temperature start process by mixing gas having a high oxygen content as a function of an operating point of an internal combustion engine in sucked air. SOLUTION: A thorttle valve 12 is interposed in an intake pipe 10 where atmospheric air flows through an air filter 14 by intake negative pressure, and a by-pass channel 20 is connected to an intake pipe 10 in such a manner as to by-passing the throttle valve 12. In the channel 20, a chamber 21 provided with a film 30 where only oxygen molecules can penetrate is disposed. The film 30 is preferably a film of one bundle of hollow fibers buried in synthetic resin. In the by-pass channel 20, a check valve 22 for preventing backflow in the channel 20 and a blower 24 capable of supplying air flow generated under a little high pressure to the film 30 is further provided. The by-pass channel 20 is opened and closed through an idling setting device 16 driven by motor control and at the time of low temperature start, a gas with a high oxygen content is supplied to an engine.
