    • An optical disk apparatus that records data on an optical disk whose linear velocity is not constant. The optical disk apparatus includes an optical pickup that irradiates a laser beam of a recording power on the optical disk, converts light reflected from the optical disk into an electric signal; a detector that detects a level of the reflected light signal; and a controller that controls a recording power such that the reflected light signal level matches a target value set according to the linear velocity. When adjusting the recording power such that the reflected light level matches the target value, the target value is not set to a constant level, but set in accordance with the linear velocity. Target values at different linear velocities differ and, with this configuration, an appropriate target value is set and an appropriate recording power corresponding to the linear velocity is obtained.

    • An optical disk device generating reproduced data based on a reproduced digital signal which is derived by tracking a track on an optical disk with an optical pickup is shown. A bit-frequency-information generation unit measures a bit frequency of the reproduced digital signal after transition of the optical pickup in a seek operation, and generates measured-bit-frequency information which indicates a measured bit frequency measured thereby. In a bit-frequency setting unit, if there is a difference between the measured bit frequency and a specified bit frequency, the measured-bit-frequency information is corrected so as to adjust the bit frequency of the reproduced digital signal to the specified bit frequency by a given amount of correction, and is produced as setting-bit-frequency information. And a PLL circuit generates a synchronization clock which is phase synchronized to the reproduced digital signal and is used for generation of the reproduced data by means of setting the bit frequency indicated by the setting-bit-frequency information to a free-run frequency of the PLL circuit.

An optical disk apparatus includes a first laser, a second laser, a first and second optical sensors which detect the reflected beams obtained by reflecting the light beams from the first and second lasers on the recording surface. The optical disk also includes first and second signal extraction circuits extracting signals having a frequency component corresponding to the wave shape of the edge line of the groove from the detection signals from the first and second optical sensors, a tracking controller controlling positions in a direction of the radius of the first and second lasers on the basis of the signals from the first and second extraction circuits, and a recording and reproducing unit for recording and reproducing on and from the optical disk.

The D.C. signal from the detecting circuit is controlled by a closed loop circuit comprising the detecting circuit, the control circuit and the adder.
