    • PURPOSE: A TFI-OFDM transmission/reception system for an ultra wide band communication to mitigate the interference between piconets and a method for transmitting/receiving of the same are provided to mitigate the collision due to the adjacent SOP in the piconet channel environment by transmitting the modulated OFDM symbols at least more than two times. CONSTITUTION: A TFI-OFDM transmission/reception system for an ultra wide band communication to mitigate the interference between piconets includes a data generating unit, a convolutional encoder(321), an interleaver(331), an OFDM modulation unit(351), a buffer(381) and a frequency generation unit(391). The data generating unit generates the data having the speed corresponding to the transmission speed mode. The convolutional encoder performs the convolution encode for the data. The interleaver performs the bit interleaving for the encoded data. The OFDM modulation unit inputs the first data group to the positive frequency region and inputs the second data group to the negative frequency region. The OFDM modulation unit performs the invert fast Fourier transformation(IFFT) to output the IFFT modulated data as an OFDM symbol. The buffer temporally stores the OFDM symbol to transmit the OFDM symbol to the time region at least two times sequentially. And, the frequency generation unit generates the predetermined frequency to transmit the OFDM symbol to the predetermined frequency bandwidth.

    • PURPOSE: An apparatus and a method for modulating and demodulating a channel by using a multi-transmission antenna in an OFDM(Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing) system are provided to modulate and demodulate the channel by using the same pilot symbols having different phases. CONSTITUTION: A convolutional encoder(513) receives data bits(511), perform a convolutional encoding process according to a predetermined encoding rate, and outputs the convolutional encoded data to a bit-symbol converter(515). The bit-symbol converter(515) converts the convolutional encoded data bits of the convolutional encoder(513) to transmission symbols and outputs the transmission symbols to an interleaver(517). The interleaver(517) performs an interleaving process for the transmission symbols and outputs the interleaved symbols to a frame generator(519). The frame generator(519) is used for grouping plural OFDM symbol sets according to the number of sub-channels. In addition, the frame generator(519) is used for generating a frame by inserting a pilot symbol into data symbols. A pilot symbol generator(523) is used for generating the pilot symbol. A multiplier(525) is used for multiplying the pilot symbol by phase components. An OFDM modulator(521) received the generated frame and performs an OFDM modulation process.

    • PURPOSE: An apparatus and a method for decoding a channel in an OFDM(Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing) system are provided to improve performance of channel estimation by using data symbols and an MAP(Maximum A Posteriori) algorithm soft decision values. CONSTITUTION: An OFDM demodulator(511) receives OFDM symbols from antennas of A number and outputs the received symbols to a serial/parallel converter. The serial/parallel converter converts the received serial symbols to parallel symbols and outputs the parallel symbols to a guard interval removal portion. The guard interval removal portion removes guard intervals from the parallel symbols and outputs the parallel symbols to an FFT(Fast Fourier Transform). The FFT converts the parallel symbols and the converted parallel symbols to a delay portion(512) and a log likelihood calculator(515). A channel estimator(513) is used for updating channel gain estimation values of the received symbols by soft decision values of the OFDM symbols. The log likelihood calculator(515) is used for updating log likelihood ratios of the received symbols by using the updated channel gain estimation values. A deinterleaver(517) is used for deinterleaving the OFDM symbols according to an interleaving method of the transmitter. An MAP decoder(519) performs a soft decision process for the received symbols and a decoding process by using the log likelihood ratios. A bit-symbol converter(521) is used for converting data bits of the soft decision values according to a transmission method of a transmitter. An interleaver(523) is used for interleaving the output symbols of the bit-symbol converter(521).
