    • The present invention discloses a process for producing molded, shaped or extruded articles comprising the steps of:a) melt reacting, in the presence of a catalyst which is substantially free of Co compounds, at least one glycol and at least one dicarboxylic acid to form a polyester having an I.V. of at least about 0.5 dL/g, wherein said at least one glycol is selected from the group consisting of glycols having up to 10 carbon atoms and mixtures thereof and said dicarboxylic is selected from the group consisting of alkyl dicarboxylic acids having 2 to 16 carbon atoms, aryl dicarboxylic acids having 8 to 16 carbon atoms and mixtures thereof;b) adding an acetaldehyde reducing additive to said polyester to form a reduced acetaldehyde polyester; andc) forming said reduced acetaldehyde polyester into articles directly from step b.Thus, the present invention provides a process for directly producing from the melt article having extremely low acetaldehyde content.

    • A smoke detection unit has a detection chamber for sampling smoke from a surrounding environment. The detection chamber allows air circulation but is optically opaque. This configuration is typical of photoelectric smoke detectors, for example. A housing defines a window though which air from the environment circulates into and out of the detection chamber. The window's height is approximately the same as the chamber. A cage vane is positioned in the window and is configured as an inverted frustoconical member. An inner edge of the cage vane is spaced away from the chamber. The angled vane, along the other aspects of the unit's configuration, improves sensitivity by increasing smoke circulation through the chamber. This configuration guides the air currents typically created by fires at the ceiling so that the smoke flows easily into the detection chamber.

    • A receptacle (10) of moulded paper pulp has a flat circular base wall (12) and a side wall (14) of an inverted frustoconical shape extending upwardly from the base wall to define a receiving volume. In one embodiment, the present invention is comprised of a content validator. The content validator is configured as a validating traffic light adapted to depict the state of the validity of the content. The validating traffic light is comprised of a plurality of different colors that are illuminated to depict the states of the validity of the content. The content validator is adapted to be responsive to received user submissions. User submissions may be comprised of new content, comments on existing content, corrections of content, and/or validation of content. User submissions may further be comprised of validation of new content, validation of comments on content, and/or validation of corrections of content. The content validator further provides for those received submissions to be included in the indicated validity of the content.
