摘要： A disposable access sheath having a deflectable tip is provided. The access sheath is very flexible and allows a physician or other medical professional to provide diagnostic or therapeutic services to a remote body cavity. The access sheath has a deflectable tip that is able to bend at least 90° or 180° or more. This flexibility allows the physician or medical professional to make a very tight turn to visualize or treat the body cavity being treated. The access sheath may include a visualization system, a working channel, an irrigation channel, or other desirable features. The access sheath may include an interface at the proximal end of the working channel for insertion of an instrument for diagnosis or treatment of a human or mammalian patient.

If the Foley catheter was placed using a urethral access sheath (20) , the elongated inflation tube allows the surgeon to easily remove the access sheath from the patient .

摘要： This invention is a storage device (cryocontainer) for the vitrification method of cryopreservation that uses shape memory materials to create a novel shape-shifting feature in which the relevant heat transfer zone of the cryocontainer can be thermally morphed between a shape conducive to biological specimen handling and to a shape conducive to rapid heat transfer. This feature utilizes the temperature induced phase transformation of shape memory materials. The temperature inducement occurs naturally within the normal temperature changes that occur during vitrification.

摘要： A device is provided for retrieving objects from a body. The device may comprise a body (157), a slide assembly (161) slidably attached to the body, an articulator (162) rotatably attached to the body and in communication with the slide assembly, and wires (151a, 151b) attached proximally to the articulator and distally to a basket (B), such that moving the slide assembly can retract and extend the basket longitudinally. When the drum is rotated, the wire pivots move towards or away from each other as they follow the female thread(s), causing the basket to move transversely from side to side.

摘要： A surgical cutting instrument for coring, debulking, and removing a large, tough tissue mass such as a fibroid tumor through a trocar access sheath during a minimally invasive surgical procedure. The instrument includes an outer sheath having a distal cutting end for coring the tissue mass and an inner elongated member having a distal, tissue affixation end such as a helical coil for inserting into and stabilizing the tissue mass during the surgical coring procedure. The cutting instrument further includes an instrument engagement assembly when in an engaged position for urging the outer sheath toward the distal end of the inner elongated member. As a result, tissue affixed to the distal end of the inner elongated member is cored as the outer sheath is urged toward the distal end of the inner member and engages the affixed tissue. The instrument engagement assembly includes sheath and member engagement subassemblies. The sheath engagement subassembly is positioned about the proximal end of the outer sheath and includes a hub with a pivotedly interconnected side arm. The member engagement subassembly positioned along the intermediate portion of the inner member includes multiple start helical threads. The side arm has projections extending laterally therefrom for extension into the passage of the hub and engaging the multiple start helical threads of the inner member.
