摘要： A process and an apparatus are disclosed for improved recovery of metal from dross, wherein a dross treating furnace is provided with a refractory wall or lining with good capacity to store and conduct heat. This furnace is preheated to a desired temperature by injection of oxygen to burn non-recoverable metal remaining in the residue after tapping of the recoverable metal contained in the dross. When dross is treated in such preheated furnace, the heat emanating by conduction from the furnace wall is sufficient to melt and separate the recoverable metal contained in the dross, without addition of an external heat source, such as fuel or gas burners, plasma torches or electric arcs.

摘要： The invention provides an improved near net-shape VPS formed multilayered combustion system component (22, 24) having an inner surface consisting of a smooth protective thermal barrier coating (28), and an outer layer of superalloy (32) capable of withstanding temperatures in excess of 700°C. The invention also includes the method of forming such components by first vacuum plasma spraying a suitable mold (10) with a ceramic top coat (28), followed by a bond coat (30) and followed by a thick structural layer of superalloy (32). The mold (10) is then separated from the multilayered structure which results in the desired near net-shape component. Combustor liners (22) and transition ducts (24) of gas turbine engines can be advantageously formed in this manner.

摘要： The invention provides an improved thermal barrier coating system for a hot section component (10). The thermal barrier coating has a metallic bond coat (12) and a ceramic top coat made of two constituents. The top coat is formed so that there is provided a graded interface (16) between the monolithic layers (14, 18) of the two top coat constituents. This allows an increase in overall thickness of the thermal barrier coating which provides a higher thermal insulation for the component (10) being protected.

摘要： Method for gasification and vitrification of ashes by means of a plasma arc, the method comprising: (a) feeding a predetermined quantity of ashes into a shaft furnace (14) provided in its heating section with two or three tiltable plasma arc electrodes (22a, 22b); (b) igniting the arc (26) between the ends of the electrodes (22a, 22b) when they are positioned essentially horizontally, facing one another; (c) tilting the electrodes downwardly, thereby increasing distance between their ends and lengthening the plasma arc (26) which helps to heat the ashes, producing combustion gases and slag; (d) allowing the tilting to proceed until the electrodes are positioned essentially vertically and whereby the arc (26) between them is broken while separate arcs (26a, 26b) are formed, one between each electrode and the slag (28) accumulated at the bottom of the furnace (14), thereby heating said slag and maintaining it in a molten state; and (e) tapping the molten slag (28) when required.
An apparatus is also disclosed.
