Aerial machines without aerostats; planes, arrangement and construction of; parachutes; propelling; cars.-Aerial machines of the kind described in Specification 5223/13 consisting of a lower topshaped body b surrounded by a parachute surface a, are provided with a top aeroplane surface h which joins the surface a with a continuous curve. A propeller f is placed at the narrowest portion of the air passage so as to draw air over the plane h and force it through t h e annular passage c to the outlet c . The outlet c may be closed by a curtain a depending from the surface a, formed with a number of triangular openings a and raised by cords a which are led to the steering- pillar a in the car g. The car may be arranged in the hollow body b below the engine e', which drives the propeller shaft e in the conical casing e through which the exhaust gases may escape. Radiallydisposed partitions may be placed in the air passage to prevent rotation of the machine. When the axis of the machine is inclined, the plane h acts as a supporting-plane.

Aerial machines without aerostats; planes, arrangement and construction of; parachutes.-An aerial machine of the kind described in Specifications 5966/12 and 15,735/12 comprising upper and lower annular deflecting-surfaces a, b, between which air is forced by a centrifugal propeller d, is provided with an elliptical closure e to the underside of the surface b and with a shallow saucershaped plane l which surrounds the air inlet to the machine. The lower edge of the surface a is fitted with a curtain a adjustable by means of cords a . The surfaces act as parachutes during descent. Propelling; tanks and like containers, arrangement of.-The motor may be placed in the hollow body of the machine and, when of the rotary type, is arranged to rotate oppositely to the propeller, which rotates at a lower speed than the engine. The exhaust gases are passed into the hollow body. The propeller d has a conical hub g which may serve as a fuel tank, the fuel passing down the propeller shaft through holes f , and air passing down the shaft from the upper end.
