    • A release locking device for use in photographic cameras of the type in which an exposure meter and electro-magnetic actuating and releasing means for automatic exposure control are rendered operative in separate manner by their respective control or release switches as may be operatively associated with a display button and a shutter release button respectively. This device comprises a master switch connected between an electrical power source and a common input lead of these release switches to be closed and opened in response to an actuation and a release, respectively, of a manually operable member, thereby all of the release switches are rendered effective and ineffective at a time. In a preferred embodiment, this device is operatively associated with a shutter cocking mechanism to be actuable in automatic response to a protracting movement of the shutter cocking lever into an effective range of shutter cocking operation.

    • A camera having an automatic diaphragm control range where the exposure value derived from an exposure control circuit is introduced to a diaphragm mechanism through a scanning mechanism. The termination of scanning operation is electromagnetically effected by an arresting device comprising an electromagnet, an arresting lever carrying an armature, a first spring connected to the arresting lever to urge the armature for movement toward the electromagnet, a driving lever pivotal about a common shaft of the arresting lever and arranged to cooperate with a cocking and release member, a second spring connected to the driving lever and having a stronger force than the first spring by a magnitude necessary to permit the arresting operation of the arresting lever against the first spring, and a transmitting pin mounted on the arresting lever and extending into the range of movement of the driving lever at a point where the driving lever in the cocked position is spaced apart from the pin by a distance large enough to insure that the armature is brought into intimate contact with the electromagnet yoke under the same conditions each time the scanning mechanism is reset as the camera is cocked. The transmitting pin also serves as a position-adjusting means in order to insure that the time interval between the deenergization of the electromagnet and the initiation of arresting operation of the arresting lever by the driving lever is minimized and made uniform from camera to camera to improve the accuracy of diaphragm control.

    • A film feeding device for a camera including a rotatable center shaft member having a protrudent clutch pin, the center shaft being movable alone in the direction of its axis; a rotatable film feeding sprocket which has a slot to allow the protrudent pin to engage therewith and which thus moves together with the center shaft member when the center shaft rotates; a drive device which is provided with a clutch groove to allow the protrudent pin to engage with and disengage from the clutch groove, the drive device being arranged to rotate in response to a film winding operation. When the center shaft shifts to one side defined by the slot, the protrudent clutch pin comes to engage with the clutch groove to cause the sprocket to rotate in response to the film winding operation. When the center shaft shifts to the other side, the protrudent clutch pin is disengaged from the clutch groove to permit free rotation of the sprocket. Thus, rotation of the sprocket is controlled by means of the single protrudent pin in such a manner as to minimize variation in spacing between one photographed picture and another.

    • A focal plane shutter unit for a camera has a dimension-stable framework which has a rear wall member provided with an exposure aperture and with a film guide channel defining a path of the film behind the exposure aperture and which has a front surface to which a support structure having means for receiving and holding a lens mount is fixedly secured so that a predetermined spatial relationship between the objective lens and the film plane is established with dimension-stability, though the internal and external camera housing sections are made from a dimension-unstable material such as plastic. The framework is further adapted to carry front and rear shutter curtains with respective drive means, front curtain actuating means, rear curtain actuating means, and shutter cocking means coupled to the film wind mechanism of the camera.

    • An electromagnetically controlled shutter with a latch member held in an active position by an electromagnet containing a permanent magnet and operating upon de-magnetization of the electromagnet to release the shutter. To prevent reduction of the attractive force by the adhesion of dust, oil or the like to the attracting surface of the electromagnet and also to improve the ramping characteristics of the shutter, an arrangement is provided such that when the electromagnet is de-energized, the shutter latching member is pulled away from the electromagnet by a breakaway spring. Then the breakaway spring impels the shutter to run down in an early stage, and loses its impelling force. Soon after that, the shutter latching member is returned to the attracted position by an attracting spring.
