    • Flexible mounting brackets and support structures can be used to mount substantially linear panels to substantially non-linear support structures without undue stress. For example, at least one implementation comprises a flexible mounting bracket having an attachment interface located on a proximal portion of the bracket, and a mounting interface on a distal portion of the bracket. The proximal and distal portions of the bracket are pivotally connected with one or more torsion springs, so that the proximal and distal portions can move or otherwise adjust to accommodate any stressing. A system for creating a nonlinear support structure thus includes the flexible mounting bracket, as well as vertical support structure components that can be configured to maintain a non-linear shape. Panels mounted to a plurality of flexible brackets maintain the non-linear shape of the support structure components without undue stress or damage.

    • A method and system for controlling access to an Internet resource is disclosed herein. When a request for an Internet resource, such as a Web site, is transmitted by an end-user of a LAN, a security appliance for the LAN analyzes a reputation index for the Internet resource before transmitting the request over the Internet. The reputation index is based on a reputation vector which includes a plurality of factors for the Internet resource such as country of domain registration, country of service hosting, country of an internet protocol address block, age of a domain registration, popularity rank, internet protocol address, number of hosts, to-level domain, a plurality of run-time behaviors, JavaScript block count, picture count, immediate redirect and response latency. If the reputation index for the Internet resource is at or above a threshold value established for the LAN, then access to the Internet resource is permitted. If the reputation index for the Internet resource is below a threshold value established for the LAN, then access to the Internet resource is denied.

    • The invention is a insect trapping device comprising a truncated, tapered hollow body such as a truncated cone or pyramid having a nondrying glue substantially covering its interior surface. The glue has a removable covering that protects it when it is in its package or ready to deploy configuration. It may be placed on a horizontal surface with the large opening facing down or hung in an overhead position with the large opening facing up. The device may be sized for different applications: a large version placed over dung in a field will capture house flies, while a smaller version put on a countertop using overripe fruit as an attractant will capture fruit flies. Various embodiments are presented that allow the embodiment to be folded, stacked, or flattened for storage. The invention traps members of the insecta class (e.g. flies), members of the arachnid class (e.g. spiders) and other arthropods.

    • An improved method of classifying examples into multiple categories using a binary support vector machine (SVM) algorithm. In one preferred embodiment, the method includes the following steps: storing a plurality of user-defined categories in a memory of a computer, analyzing a plurality of training examples for each category so as to identify one or more features associated with each category; calculating at least one feature vector for each of the examples; transforming each of the at least one feature vectors so as reflect information about all of the training examples; and building a SVM classifier for each one of the plurality of categories, wherein the process of building a SVM classifier further includes: assigning each of the examples in a first category to a first class and all other examples belonging to other categories to a second class, wherein if anyone of the examples belongs to another category as well as the first category, such examples are assigned to the first class only, optimizing at least one tunable parameter of a SVM classifier for the first category, wherein the SVM classifier is trained using the first and second classes; and optimizing a function that converts the output of the binary SVM classifier into a probability of category membership.

    • The present invention provides a boot for applying medicine to a foot for a variety of conditions. Wearing the boot allows one to perform job and domestic duties while treating a foot. The present invention has a sole beneath an upper with a waterproof interior. The sole has a generally foot shape in a variety of sizes. Additionally, the sole incorporates heating discs and appurtenant wiring. The wiring exits the sole and runs to a switch and a box containing batteries. To use the boot, a person places fluids, or water, and medicine into the boot. The person then inserts a foot into the boot and turns on the heating discs which then heat the sole and the fluids to a comfortable temperature.
