摘要： A corrugated-typed fastener configured to couple a first substrate to a second substrate includes a bridge and a plurality of ribs, the ribs having a plurality of flutes. The flutes, and possibly the ribs, may be angled inwardly to form an apex disposed within the width of the fastener and pointing towards a center of the fastener. The ribs may extend outward from the bridge towards opposing ends of the fastener, and the ends may be at a different height than the bridge when viewing the fastener from the side. Alternatively, the ends may be at the same height as the bridge and also may be generally centered on the height of the fastener.

摘要： A fastener assembly for use in a fastener driving tool is formed as a row of fasteners arranged substantially parallel to each other and a supporting strip. The strip has a supporting substrate and an adhesive composition thereon. The supporting substrate has an elongated dimension extending generally in the direction of the row of fasteners. The supporting substrate defines upper and lower edges, at least one of which has a scallop formation therein between the fasteners. The scallop formation defines a 3-dimensional profile to stiffen the fastener assembly. The adhesive composition bonds to the fasteners to maintain the fasteners in the substantially parallel arrangement in the row. A method for making the assembly is also disclosed.

A portion of the nail shank is made harder than the remainder by selectively heat treating that portion, and cooling it. The nail has controlled bending properties. The selectively hardened portion does not significantly bend when the nail is fired at a surface using a power driving tool, or during use of the nailed object.

摘要： A process for coating a metal fastener with a coating composition that has a particular affinity for plaster materials is disclosed. The composition comprises a mixture of a copolymer of an aromatic monomer, preferably styrene, and a monomer with .alpha., .beta. unsaturation with carboxyl groups, preferably maleic anhydride, and a thermoplastic resin disposed within an organic solvent. The resin is preferably polyvinyl acetate, and the solvent can be an aromatic solvent, a ketone, a chlorohydrocarbon, or a mixture there of. The coating composition is disposed within a reservoir, and the fastener is dipped into the composition within the reservoir. The coated fastener is then subsequently dried at approximately ambient temperature.

The presence of the aziridine enhances the adhesion properties between the surface of the metal and the cementitious compound even when less highly processed metals and less expensive compounds are utilized.
