摘要： 1290739 Extracting aromatics ESSO RESEARCH & ENG CO 23 April 1970 [12 May 1969] 19432/70 Addition to 1258194 Heading C5E Aromatics are selectively separated from a feed stream by contacting the feed stream with a slurry comprising a solid Werner complex capable of forming an insoluble inclusion compound with the aromatics, and an inert liquid solvent, the solvent extracting at least part of the aromatics from the feed stream and promoting the formation of two liquid phases in equilibrium with the inclusion compound, one liquid phase comprising feed stream depleted in aromatics and the second liquid phase comprising solvent enriched in aromatics associated with the inclusion compound as a slurry. The Werner complex has the formula AB x C y , where A is a metallic ion of atomic number >11, B is nitrogen base, C is an anion and and y are 1-6. The solvent may be a C 2 -C 12 liquid ether alcohol or liquid polyol, propylene carbonate, NMP, sulpholane, dimethylsulphoxide or a liquid phosphate ester. The process may be effected at -50 to +180 C. and 0À1-50 atmos., preferably in countercurrent. Examples describe the extraction of toluene from admixture with cyclohexane and n-heptane, and of benzene from a steam-cracked naphtha using Ni-(4-methylpyridine) 4 (SCN) 2 and propylene carbonate.

摘要： 1327254 Valves ESSO RESEARCH & ENG CO 16 Nov 1970 [1 Dec 1969] 54442/70 Heading F2V A three-way valve having an inlet 1 and two outlets 4, 5 includes a valve plate 11 actuated by double-acting cylinders 27 to close selectively either of the outlets. The valve plate comprises two spaced plates 16 and a spacer ring 14 having a plurality of pressure equalization openings 15. The outer shell 2 is made of carbon steel and the inner lining 3 of stainless steel; the space between the two is filled with a castable insulation of alumina and mineral fibres bonded with a calcium aluminate cement. The drive shafts 24 are sealed against leakage by stuffing boxes 28 supplied with purge couplings 39 which may be attached to vent lines or used for supplying a back pressure of inert gas, e.g. nitrogen.

摘要： Unsaturated alcohols and ethers are prepared through the reaction of C4 to C6 aliphatic conjugated diolefins with water, a lower alkanol or mixtures thereof in the presence of a zero valent palladium based catalyst system. The preferred catalyst is tetrakis(triphenyl-phosphine)palladium alone or in combination with a basic material such as a quaternary ammonium hydroxide. Where one of the coreactants is water, the reaction is conducted in the presence of a solvent. The unsaturated alcohol and ether products can be catalytically hydrogenated to plasticizer alcohols and ether solvent media.
