    • The described embodiments relate generally to a dielectric wave guide interconnect for an electronic device including a first routing circuit, a second routing circuit, and a dielectric wave guide coupling the first routing circuit to the second routing circuit. The interconnect may also include a first coupling element securing a first end of the dielectric wave guide proximal to the first routing circuit and a conductive element to insulate the dielectric wave guide from radio-frequency (RF) signals. In some embodiments, the first routing circuit is in a bottom portion of the electronic device; and the second routing circuit is in a top portion of the electronic device. An electronic device including a dielectric wave guide interconnect as above is also disclosed. A coupler for an electronic device including a first end adapted to receive an electrical signal and a propagating electromagnetic signal is also disclosed.

    • A method for dynamically adapting a traffic inactivity timer is disclosed. The method can include a wireless communication device determining a data traffic level on a wireless network interface and determining whether the data traffic level exceeds a threshold data traffic level. The method can further include the wireless communication device using a first inactivity timeout period for the traffic inactivity timer in an instance in which it is determined that data traffic level does not exceed the threshold data traffic level. The method can additionally include the wireless communication device using a second inactivity timeout period for the traffic inactivity timer in an instance in which it is determined that the data traffic level exceeds the threshold data traffic level. The second inactivity timeout period can define a longer time period than the first inactivity timeout period.

    • The described embodiments relate generally to a capacitor assembly for mounting on a printed circuit board (PCB) and more specifically to designs for mechanically isolating the capacitor assembly from the PCB to reduce an acoustic noise produced when the capacitor imparts a piezoelectric force on the PCB. Termination elements in the capacitor assembly, including a porous conductive layer in the capacitor assembly may reduce an amount of vibrational energy transferred from the capacitor to the PCB. Termination elements including a soft contact layer may also reduce the amount of vibrational energy transferred to the PCB. Further, capacitor assemblies having thickened dielectric material may reduce the amount of vibrational energy transferred to the PCB.

    • An article having a metal surface is treated to have one or more desired optical effects. The surface is anodized to create an anodic film having pores therein. In some embodiments, an electrodeposition process is performed to deposit one or more metals within the pores of the anodic film. In some embodiments, a pre-dip procedure is performed prior to electrodeposition to create a more uniformly colored anodic film. In some embodiments, one or more dyes are deposited within the pores of the anodic film. In some embodiments, the substrate is exposed to a chemical etching process prior to anodizing to create a micro-textured surface that enhances the richness of the color of the anodic film.

    • The described embodiments relate generally to an accessory device for a tablet device. The accessory device takes the form of a flexible screen protector that can be disposed over a display portion of the tablet device. Because the flexible screen protector covers the display of the tablet there is no visual way for the tablet to provide notifications to the user while the screen protector overlays it. By providing a data and power connection between the tablet and the accessory device, the processor of the tablet device can command illumination elements disposed in the accessory device to be illuminated in any of a number of illumination states. Each of the illumination states can be associated with an operating state of the tablet device thereby allowing the tablet device to visually communicate operating state information while the display is covered.
