摘要： A portable tool for fitting a channel-shaped sealing, trimming or guiding strip onto a mounting flange comprises a gear box having an input shaft rotated by suitable motor and which drives two rollers in contra-rotating directions about respective axes. When the motor is energized to contra-rotate the rollers, the tool is driven along the strip and the rollers force the sides of the channel of the strip into tight frictional contact with the flange. The axis of one of the rollers is fixed in relation to the tool body. The other roller is mounted on a sub-frame so that its axis can pivot about a pivot axis which intersects with the rotation axis of that roller. The tool also includes a third roller for engaging the outside of the inverted base of the channel.

摘要： A robot-held tool for applying a sealing strip to a flange comprises rollers which are contra-rotated by a motor within a housing and which engage opposite sides of the sealing strip to press it onto the flange, downward pressure onto the sealing strip being maintained by a non-driven roller. The housing is carried by a frame which is in turn connected to the robot via a coupling. The frame is freely angularly movable relative to a shaft which supports the housing. When the rollers are energized, they pull the tool along the flange. When a curve in the flange is reached, the housing and its supporting shaft automatically swivel relative to the remainder of the frame and to the robot. The robot then thereafter re-positions the frame back into the previous position which it had relative to the housing. In this way, the majority of the guiding of the tool along the flange is carried out by the tool itself and programming and adjustment of the robot are simplified. A hand-operated version is also disclosed.

摘要： A sealing, trimming or guiding strip comprises a first section having an extruded portion ( 19 ) which defines a channel for mounting on a vehicle window frame and has extending therefrom a flocked lip ( 53 ). A second section of the strip is provided which also comprises an extruded portion defining a channel for mounting on the frame and which has extending therefrom a flocked lip ( 76 ). The two sections are abutted and selected parts (for example, non-flocked parts) of the respective sections are joined together by a moulding operation which forms a flap ( 20 ) of moulded material extending between the respective sections. The heat from die moulding process activates a heat-activatable material applied to at least one of the flocked lips ( 53 and 70 ) at the surface where the respective lips abut at ( 17 ). The heat generated by the moulding process is sufficient to activate the heat-activatable material but does not damage the flocked material of the lips ( 53 and 76 ).
