摘要： A method for determining the presence of occult blood in the bowl of a toilet containing water and fecal matter includes the steps of applying a developing solution to a sheet of absorbent paper impregnated with a guaiac reagent to form an activated test sheet of paper, and contacting the test paper with the water in the toilet bowl. Preferably, the test sheet is an absorbent paper impregnated with a guaiac reagent and having only a portion thereof additionally impregnated with blood in an amount sufficient to react with the guaiac in the presence of a developing solution to dye the paper blue. The blood impregnated portion of the sheet upon use forms a dyed test strip with which the person using the paper can make a comparison to determine whether and the extent to which the actual guaiac reaction has taken place on the remaining portion of the sheet.

摘要： Methods are described by which immunochemical procedures such as immunodiffusion and immunoelectrophoresis can be used to provide quantitative measurement of the concentration of individual proteins in fluids such as serum, spinal fluid, tissue extracts and the like. That is accomplished typically by making quantitative optical measurements of the zones of precipitation which are produced, in parallel with those of standard preparations containing known concentrations of the proteins to be determined; deriving from the measurements of the precipitation zones selected parameters; and comparing the selected values of the experimental and reference preparations. The zone measurements are preferably made by scanning the plates electronically, with suitable arithmetic manipulation of the resulting video values at a plurality of selected positions for each zone.

It comprises a thin layer of a chemical reversibly absorbent for carbon dioxide, the pH of which changes in relation with the amount of absorbed carbon dioxide at any time; an indicator present in said film which changes color in accordance with the pH, and a photoelectric system to produce an electric signal proportionate to said color change. In this system substantial independence of humidity is gained by the use as principal solvent in the said thin layer of an ionizing solvent having a vapor pressure in the range of 0-10 mm at temperatures up to 150*F, and compatible with the other components of the system.

摘要： A compact combination blood cell count and immunoassay apparatus for measuring drawn whole blood specimen includes a load station for receiving the whole blood specimen and a nozzle member that can selectively withdraw whole blood from the blood specimen. A blood cell count section and an immunoassay section are mounted along a unitary path of movement of the nozzle member so that a single nozzle member may be used for transporting the whole blood to the respective blood cell count section and immunoassay section. A controller can automatically direct a transport mechanism to use only the whole blood and to perform various steps of adding dilution liquid and reagents, along with appropriate washing of the nozzle and sample cells to insure an automatic operation. A hematozorit value can be determined from the blood cell count signal and used to correct the immunoassay signal when whole blood is used.

The stabilizer is a water-soluble, ultraviolet light absorbing material which is a condensation product of a disulfonic acid derivative with stilbene, stilbyle or their derivatives.A method of testing for cyanuric acid compound concentrations is to mix the formulation with a sample of swimming pool water and compare the resultant characteristic color shade with a standard color shade.
