    • An extended tool holder for holding a cutting tool and receivable within a standard tool holder is provided. The extended tool holder comprises a body having a shank portion and a collet-receiving portion with an aperture extending through the body. A collet is receivable within the collet-receiving portion of the hollow body with the collet having a plurality of fingers closable about at least a portion of the cutting tool. A draw bolt is receivable within the shank portion of the hollow body and connected to the collet for urging the collet into collet receiving portion of the body wherein upon the collet entering the collet receiving portion, the fingers close about the cutting tool.

    • The ball nose end mill cutter according to the present invention includes a cutting face 12 providing a plurality of alternating crest 52 and root 54 profiles arranged with respect to each other to further provide a serrated cutting edge 16 on the cutter. The serrations and serrated cutting edge positioned on a cutter insert 10 for removable affixation to a tool body 20 having a centerline of rotation 28, and including an insert body 18 having a contact surface 30 for mating engagement with a mounting surface of the tool body. The ball nose end mill insert further including a curved cutting face surface 12, and a plurality of face serrations formed along the curved cutting face surface, the face serrations having face crests 116 and face roots 216 forming a serrated curved cutting edge 16.

    • A cutting tool has an insert holder provided with an insert receiving pocket and at least one cutting insert mounted therein. The insert receiving pocket has a longitudinally extending inner wall, a rear wall adjacent the inner wall and a lower wall adjacent the inner wall and the rear wall. A front end of the lower wall protrudes forwardly with respect to a central portion of the insert holder. The front protrusion has a front surface perpendicular to the lower wall. A groove formed in the bottom surface of the cutting insert has a distal side wall perpendicular to the bottom surface. When assembled, a radial abutment surface of the cutting insert abuts a radial abutment surface of the insert receiving pocket, the front surface of the front protrusion abuts the front distal side wall of the groove and a rear portion of the one cutting insert is spaced from the rear wall of the insert receiving pocket.

    • A lifter bore groover tool is disclosed. A housing in an essentially rectilinear configuration has an upper wall and a lower wall and a plurality of side walls. The side walls include a cutting wall and another wall and facing walls there between. A bore is formed in the housing adjacent to the cutting wall. A long cylindrical chamber beneath the bore is in communication with a guide slot extending through the cutting wall. A cylindrical cutting block is axially reciprocable within the long cylindrical chamber. A cutting tool is removably supported in the cutting block extending laterally through the guide slot for contacting the surface of the bore to be grooved. The cutting block and cutting tool are axially adjustable. A bolt is received within the bore. The bolt has an upper end with a head for rotation by the user. The bolt has a lower end rotatably coupled with respect to the cutting block whereby rotation of the bolt will axially shift the cutting block and tool to cut an axial groove in a bore upon rotation of the bolt by the user.

    • A rotary cutting tool having a plurality of removable cutting inserts is provided. The rotary cutting tool comprises a rotary tool body for rotation about a central shaft. The tool body includes an outer profile peripheral surface. A plurality of slots extend radially inwardly from the outer peripheral edge of the tool body. A plurality of cutting inserts are placed in the slots. Each of the cutting inserts has side edges defining an outermost edge and a geometrical configuration thereon. The geometrical configuration is for engagement with an annular rib on an attachment ring. A pair of attachment rings entrap the tool body and cutting inserts therebetween. The ribs on the attachment rings contact only the insert by way of an interference fit with the geometrical configuration on the tool insert and the geometry of the groove in the tool body thereby locking the tool insert with respect to the tool body. The inner area of the attachment ring is axially spaced from the tool body and the outermost edge of the insert. A method of assembling a cutting tool is also provided.
