[Classes 17 (ii) and 17 (iii).] A heel or the lower portion thereof is adapted by a pin and slot connection with a foundation member, such as an insole, to be detached from and replaced on a boot &c. in any one of a number of different angularly displaced positions so as to present a new surface in the position of greatest wear, the connection being such that, when it is established, relative displacement in a plane normal to the foundation member between the parts is prevented. A staple or other securing device inserted from within the boot &c. into the heel prevents angular displacement after adjustment. In one form, shown in Figs. 2, 3, a plate 11, which may be an extension of a shank stiffener 13, and carrying a number of headed studs 14 is secured to a shoe insole 10. The studs 14 may be engaged in any one of a number of different angular positions of the heel in recesses 24 in the edge of a plate 22 secured to the heel, and locked by a partial rotation of the parts. A staple 40 is then inserted by lifting a flap 17 in the insole through holes in the plate 11 into one of a number of pairs of holes in the plate 22 adapted to register therewith in the various adjusted positions of the heel. Instead of pin and slot connections of the form shown, pin and keyhole slots may be provided. Specification 408,115 is referred to.

In a modified form for detachable heels of leather, the studs have enlarged screw-threaded shanks which are secured into the detachable portion of the heel.

Die vorliegende Erfindung bezieht sich ferner auf einen Schuh mit einem solchem Schuhabsatz.
