    • A UPS electricity supply control circuit and a UPS electricity supply. The present UPS electricity supply comprises a rechargeable battery and a UPS electricity supply control circuit connected to said rechargeable battery. Said UPS electricity supply control circuit comprises an input filter circuit, a rectifier circuit, an inverter circuit, a static transfer switch, an output filter circuit, a control circuit, and a DC/DC multiplexer circuit disposed between said rechargeable battery and an output of said rectifier circuit. Said DC/DC multiplexer circuit is controlled by said control circuit. During a mode in which the battery provides electricity, said rechargeable battery provides an input voltage for said inverter circuit through said DC/DC multiplexer circuit. During a mode in which an alternating current provides electricity, the output voltage of said rectifier circuit recharges said rechargeable battery through said DC/DC multiplexer circuit. Hence, no independent recharging circuit is needed to recharge the rechargeable battery, thereby simplifying the overall circuitry of the UPS electricity supply control circuit, lowering the cost, and providing users with greater value.

    • An uninterruptible power supply system for producing an AC voltage from at least one of a DC power source or an AC power source includes an input terminal configured to receive an AC voltage from an AC power source, and an inverter operative to produce an AC voltage at an output thereof from a DC power source. A ferroresonant transformer circuit includes a transformer having an input winding, an output winding, and a third winding that forms part of a resonant circuit that produces saturation in the output winding when an AC voltage on the input winding exceeds a predetermined amplitude. A transformer input control circuit is coupled to the input terminal and to the inverter output and is operative to couple at least one of the input terminal and the inverter output to the input winding. The transformer input control circuit variably couples the input terminal to the input winding responsive to at least one of a voltage at the input terminal, a current in the output winding, a voltage on the output winding and a current at the input terminal. Related voltage regulators and methods are also described.

    • An uninterruptible power supply is disclosed in which the backup energy source (31) is connected to the power supply (38) of the protected computer by way of a bi-directional power converter (33). This converter (33) operates without sensing circuitry, relays or switches, operating continuously when a load is present in either charging or discharging the backup energy source (31). This uninterruptible power supply can be placed within the available space of a functioning standard computer power supply enclosure (38), and may be configured so that it may be replaced during normal computer operation (i.e. it is 'hot swappable'). Methods are described to interface the uninterruptible power supply to the computer, providing mutual control and communication. The device may be also used to power devices requiring external DC power, which are commonly found in association with computer operations.
