    • A balance, which is virtually insensitive to angular deviation and to the presence of additional accelerations of the base, has two dynamometers (2, 3) each having a parallel guide (26). The parallel guides are mutually parallel and their degree of freedom coincides with the direction of gravitational acceleration when the balance is horizontal. The dynamometer (2) messures the weight (M) of the object to be weighed, and the dynamometer (3) measures that of a reference mass (8, 22, 24). The balance also has a computer (4) which, from the signals emitted by the two dynamometers (2, 3), accurately determines the mass of the object to be weighedindependently of the angular deviation of the instantaneous total acceleration. During calibration, which can be carried out only by the manufacturer, the dynamometer (3) determines the weight (R1, R2) of the reference mass (8, 22, 24) at two different inclinations of the balance, and the dynamometer (2) determines the weight (N1, N2) of the empty balance pan (18) and the total weight (M1, M2) using a known standard mass. After appropriate processing, the above-mentioned values and the parameters (s, S1, P, Q, R1, N1) derived therefrom are stored in the read-only memory (30) of the computer (4). The true mass is then determined from the instantaneous values of the weights (M, R) and the stored quantites.

    • A coupling device designed to securely connect adjacent weigh platform modules of a vehicle scale, and a method of coupling such modules therewith. Such a device may include corresponding coupling elements, each adapted for attachment to a respective one of a pair of adjacent weigh platform modules. The coupling elements are designed for mating contact and include fastener assembly receiving cavity sections that, when the coupling elements are properly mated, form a fastener assembly receiving cavity in an exposed top surface of the coupling device. A fastener assembly is located in the fastener assembly receiving cavity and is operative to secure the mated arrangement of the coupling elements, thereby rigidly connecting the associated weigh platform modules. The accessible location of the fastener assembly facilitates both installation and subsequent service/repair procedures.

    • The rod-like load measuring cell consists of a guide section (1), divided into a frame (6), a load bearer (7) and two parallel rigid plates (8) interconnecting said components. The plates (8) are connected to both the frame (6) and the load bearer (7) via strip-like bending joints (9) extending over the entire length of the guide section (1). The load measuring cell is supported via the frame (6) on two feet (2) fitted at the ends of the rod-like guide section (1); the platform (5) is supported on two securing members (3) also secured to the ends of the guide section (1) and acting on the load bearer (7). A strain gauge (4) is fitted diagonally half-way along the guide section (1). When the platform (5) is loaded, a tensile force is exerted on the strain gauge (4).

    • An elastically reducing dynamometer with a parallel guide comprises a frame (1), two essentially parallel plates (3, 4), a load carrier (2), and four elastic tie joints (5 to 8). The frame (1) is secured to a base plate (12); the load carrier (2) supports a balance pan (16).
