    • A roller assembly includes a body (10) with a cylindrical bore (12) and rollers (14) extending lengthwise inside the bore. The rollers abut one another to form a closed circle of rollers.
      A folded spring (18) extends diametrically across the circle of rollers with diametrically opposite ends (20,22) pressing between two adjoining rollers to wedge these rollers apart circumferentially and thus to press all the rollers against the surface (16) of the bore (12) in a "keystoning" effect with sufficient force to prevent axial movement of the rollers and to radially retain the rollers in the body. The spring is arranged to be subsequently pushed axially from the body.

    • A process for assembling a linear motion bearing using a retainerless saddle assembly. Such retainerless saddle assembly is composed of a bearing body having escape-ball through holes, steel balls, and a pair of end caps. The claimed assembling process includes the steps of: (a) attaching one of the pair of end caps at one end surface of the bearing body; (b) providing raceways within the bearing body by a raceway spacer, a diameter of each of the raceways being slightly larger than that of each of the steel balls; (c) feeding the steel balls into the raceways and escape-ball through holes in the bearing body; (d) holding the steel balls positioned within the raceways by said raceway spacer such that the steel balls will not fall off from the raceways within the bearing body; (e) covering an open end of the bearing body by another one of the pair of end caps so as to form a saddle; and (f) thereafter sliding the saddle onto a rail such that the raceway spacer is displaced by said rail to form a retainerless linear motion bearing.
