    • Described is a Stirling engine with a housing interior (1) divided by a reciprocating gas-permeable regenerator plate (4) into two spaces (6, 7). The design proposed for the interior (1) of the housing and the rotary mounting of the regenerator plate (4), which also acts as a displacer piston, means that the displacement function of the regenerator plate (4) is carried out wholly by a low-wear rotational movement about the axis of rotation (5).

    • According to the invention, in each unit (such as 201) of the machine, a tank (212) contains a rotary displacer (220) defining chambers (222) containing a working gas. The invention can be used for improving the yield and enabling operation at a relatively high speed and/or under small temperature differences.
