    • A shelter has a frame assembly (12), and a roof assembly (14) and flexible sidewall assembly (16) releasably connected thereto. The frame assembly (12) has a plurality of upright frame members (18) laterally spaced relative to each other, and a plurality of lateral frame members (20) extending laterally between and interconnecting the upright frame members (18). The flexible sidewall assembly (16) has a first sidewall frame (22), a second sidewall frame (24), and at least one flexible sidewall (26) connected at one end to the first sidewall frame (22) and connected at another end to the second sidewall frame (24) and extending therebetween. The flexible sidewall assembly (16) further has at least one tensioning device (68) connected to the flexible sidewall (26) for securing it in a taut condition to the frame assembly (12). The tensioning device (68) defines a locked position fixedly securing the flexible sidewall (26) to the frame assembly (12) in the taut condition, and an unlocked position wherein the flexible sidewall (26) is movable relative to the frame assembly (12).

    • A canopy assembly includes a frame composed of a plurality of elongated elements interconnected to form an array to which a fabric is secured and stretched. Portions of the fabric are secured in tension into corresponding different ones of the elements, and corresponding ends of respective elements are connected together to form the frame. At least some of the elements each respectively have an H-shaped cross-section with space-opposed pairs of each of mutually-spaced legs projecting individually away from respective opposite ends of the crossbar of that cross-section. A variety of different devices may be used alternatively to secure the portions of fabric to the different elements, while creating tension in the fabric. A number of different interconnectors may be used alternatively or in various different combinations to connect corresponding ends of respective different elements in the formation of the frame. Different ones of those devices and interconnectors also are described in use with channel-shaped elements rather than H-shaped elements.

    • A demountable building structure that is readily assembled from a set of components is disclosed. The building structure includes a plurality of arc frame members spaced along a length of the building structure. Each of the arc frame members extends from a first foot portion to a peak, and back to a second foot portion. Each of the arc frame members includes a plurality of beams. Each of the beams includes two opposed flanges. Each of the flanges has two bifurcated ends. The ends define c-shaped rope chases with openings. The building structure further includes bases slidably mateable with the first and second foot portions, and elongate membranes having beaded longitudinal edges. The membranes are stretched between adjacent of the arc frame members. The longitudinal edges are within the rope chases. Spreaders extend between adjacent of the arc frame members for urging apart the arc frame members from each other and for maintaining the membranes in a stretched condition.

    • A vaulted membrane structure that has a series of substantially curved vertical arches that can be arranged in a modular construction to support a flexible membrane that is attached to the arches and tensioned between them in a formed inward depression to minimize vibration and flutter and to increase its ability to withstand heavy live loads such as snow or pulsating loads created by high winds.This construction applies particularly to comparative small shelters where the membrane can slide in its fastener on the arch, or slide along the arch to stretch the membrane over the arches when it is fabricated in one piece or in multiple sections.The membrane is tensioned in several ways: by pulling the membrane towards the base or by pulling the arches apart by anchor lines and/or by end closures that are fastened to the base, or by adjustable purlins or jacks between arches to force them apart. A combination of two ways is also used. The arches are fixed apart by compression members between them or by anchor lines to the base. Tension rings along the base can be used to urge the membrane downward between arches and to provide openings under them for shelter ventilation.Safety cables between arches are optional but can prevent collapse of the shelter in case of membrane failure.
