摘要： An expander roller for running webs of paper, textile material or the like has a straight metallic or plastic core and an outer layer consisting of two helically convoluted strips of rubber or other elastomeric material. The two convoluted webs are mirror images of each other with reference to a plane which extends between them and is normal to the axis of the core. The external surface of the outer layer is profiled in that it is provided with grooves cut into or otherwise formed in the strips and forming helices as a result of convolution of the respective strips onto the core. Each helical groove is adjacent a deformable lip which defines a portion of the external surface of the outer layer and can yield in response to engagement with a running web. The strips are permanently or detachably bonded to the peripheral surface of the core.

摘要： An apparatus is described for separating a plurality of immediately adjacent strands of metallic sheet severed from a continuous moving flexible metallic sheet, e.g. aluminum sheet. The apparatus includes a rotatable roll over which the adjacent strands pass, this roll having a resilient outer periphery. A plurality of radial slots are formed in the resilient periphery, forming annular resilient rings therebetween. These slots are laterally spaced and are inclined inwardly toward the axis of the roll and toward the transverse central plane of the roll. The slots are of progressively increasing depths from the transverse central plane of the roll to the outer ends thereof. The annular resilient rings so formed are adapted to provide separations between adjacent strands when the strands are maintained at a constant wrap angle on the separating roll.

The width-spreading means is composed of a flat expander 15 and two pairs of cloth guiders 21 and the opening-uniformizing means 6 comprises two expander rolls 31 as protruded rolls rotating in a direction narrowing the width of the net-like web 2 while coming in contact with one side of the net-like web 2 during traveling.
