The first protruding element (7a) is arranged substantially at the side of the gripping tools (4), in correspondence with a side of the gripping tool substantially opposite to the guide element (6).

    • A tool (10) for pulling a first (30) and second tire bead (46) off of a wheel assembly (32). The tool (10) is inserted between the bead (30, 46) to be removed and the rim edge (36), and engages the bead (30, 46) to be removed with a grappling structure (18) and pulls the bead (30, 46) over the rim edge (36) by a linear drive assembly (22) disposed inside a tubular stationary member (12) affixed to the grappling structure (18). Simultaneously an angled stay (26) is positioned on the rim (36) which is pressed in an opposite direction of the pulling motion. A second embodiment pulls the rim from a second bead of a tire (70). A hook (58) is inserted between the rim edge (36) and the second tire bead (70) and hooks onto the lower rim edge (36). A linear drive assembly (62) provides a pulling motion to pull the rim edge (36) over the second bead (70), while a push plate (66) simultaneously pushes the tire side wall (74) in an opposite direction from the pulling motion.
