    • An apparatus and method for generating sleep-inducing stimuli, including a programmable controller operable for generating a sleep-inducing rhythm; and a transducer unit containing at least one transducer connected to the controller for receiving the sleep-inducing rhythm and generating and applying the sleep-inducing stimuli to a user in accordance with the rhythm. The stimuli may be in the form of vibration, warmth, light, sound, and/or electrical current. The stimuli are adapted to induce alpha, theta, and/or delta brain waves to induce sleep. The vibration may be provided by a motor unit generating and applying at least one of horizontal, vertical, circular, and smooth repetitive 3-dimensional vibration as stimuli to prompt the production of slow brain waves of said user. Preferably the motor unit generates at least two of horizontal, vertical, circular, and smooth repetitive 3-dimensional vibrational stimuli.

    • In the illustrated embodiments, a television signal (at 10) is received by a video cassette recorder (VCR) (11). The video baseband signal is supplied to a video circuit and the audio baseband signal is supplied to an audio circuit. Subliminal message information is pre-recorded on a floppy disk (15). Information is read from the floppy disk via a floppy disk drive and a disk controller command circuit (20). The information red from the floppy disk is supplied to the video and audio circuits (21, 22). In the video circuit, information corresponding to the video portion of a subliminal message is added to the video baseband signal. Prior to such adding, the intensity of the information signals corresponding to the video subliminal message is adjusted. In the audio circuit, information signals corresponding to an audio subliminal message are added to the audio baseband signal. The intensity of the information signals corresponding to the audio subliminal message are adjusted (at 29) prior to being added (at 30) to the audio baseband signal. The resulting video and audio signals are then modulated (at 23) to produce a resulting television signal.

    • The present invention relates to a method for avoiding discomfort and/or relieving motion sickness when using a display device (12) in a moving environment. According to the invention, the method comprises the steps:
      - detecting at least one movement component of the moving environment;
      - generating data for intermediate images (36) indicating the movement component or at least one of the movement components;
      - modifying a series (30) of images (28) showing content to be displayed by inserting the intermediate images (36) into the series, wherein the modified series (30) is divided into sequences (42) of these images (28) by the intermediate images (36); and
      - displaying the modified series (30) of images (28, 36) on an image display (14) of the display device (12), wherein the modified series (30) includes the intermediate images (36). The invention further relates to a corresponding image-processing device (16) and a corresponding system (10) comprising the image-processing device (16).
