摘要： An improved surgical fabric for covering and treating wounds and promoting healing thereof is described. The fabric includes nonsticking loops, sheared or unsheared, on at least one face for contacting the wound and for spacing the remainder of the fabric away from the wound. The yarn loops may be synthetic and may include a polyfluorinated polyolefin in filament, spun or plastic ribbon form as a nonsticking material, or may incorporate spun yarns of natural fibers suitably treated to impart nonstick characteristics. The nonsticking loops may be included as part of a knitted fabric construction, and additional, but shorter loops, sheared or unsheared, may be provided in the same fabric for wicking and/or absorbing liquids away from the region of the wound which is being treated. The improved surgical fabric may be produced on small circular knitting machines so as to produce a tubular, seamless fabric which can be placed around a limb or other body portion which is to be covered and treated. Stretch material may be incorporated in the tubular fabric to help prevent the accumulation of wound fluids and to assist in the retention of the dressing on a preferred placement over a wound. Although the fabric is described with reference to important surgical applications, it will be understood that the fabric is generally useful in applications requiring a transmittal and/or absorption of liquid from any surface area, as for example in diaper constructions or constructions for other articles of apparel.

摘要： A suspension system for the care and prevention of wounds on the body of a user includes an array of removable suspension devices forming a flexible sheet. Each suspension device is removably coupled to at least one other suspension device. The suspension devices are selectably removable from the array in order to define a space within the sheet which approximates the size of a target area on the body of the user. A disposable garment for the body of a user includes an absorbent portion and a wound care and prevention suspension portion. The absorbent portion has a fluid pervious inner sheet, a fluid impervious outer sheet and at least one layer of absorbent material disposed between the inner and outer sheets. The wound care and prevention suspension portion is coupled to the absorbent portion. The application of a suspension system for the care and prevention of wounds to the body of a user including identifying a target area on the body of the user, obtaining a sheet formed of removable suspension devices, selectably removing at least one suspension device from the sheet to define a space which approximates the target area, and securing the sheet to the body of the user such that the sheet supports the target area without contacting the target area.

摘要： An absorbent article includes a moisture barrier formed of a formable, liquid impermeable material. The moisture barrier defines a basin having a width dimension, a length dimension greater than the width dimension, and a volume. The basin includes a floor having corrugations formed therein parallel to the width dimension. The absorbent article also includes an absorbent assembly disposed within the basin and a liner formed of a liquid permeable material bonded to the moisture barrier and sandwiching the absorbent assembly therebetween. The corrugations permit the absorbent article to bend inwardly, for example to conform to the shape of the wearer, without bunching the moisture barrier along the portions facing the wearer and without substantially stretching or deforming the floor of the moisture barrier.

In particular, the systems and apparatuses disclosed herein prevent or otherwise mitigate pressure by actively orienting a patient over an anatomy-specific pressure-mitigating contact surface on which the patient rests. A pressure-mitigating contact portion of the contact surface includes a plurality of independently pressurized chambers configured in a specific geometric pattern that is designed to mitigate contact pressure between a support surface (e.g., bed or chair) and a specific anatomic region of a patient's body when the specific anatomic region of the patient's body is oriented over an epicenter of the geometric pattern. Additionally, a plurality of elevated side support portions and a wedge interconnected on the base material are configured to actively orient the specific anatomic region of the patient's body over the epicenter of the geometric pattern.
