摘要： The top door of the letter locker mailbox covers both the incoming mail chute, and the outgoing mail tray. This configuration provides the mail carrier with one or two less significant arm movements in servicing the mailbox. The door, chute and tray are weather protected by a solid, two inch weather shield. The top door is secured by a full length one inch magnetic strip. The bottom mail receiving and storage compartment is secured by a locking door, secured at the top center by a mail handling utility lock. The door is protected from theft by prying, by the weather security shield above, and weather security shields on both sides. The bottom door stainless steel rod hinge is permanent, secured in the assembly at the time of manufacturing, and cannot be pried. The construction and design of the entire mailbox is a unique, superior improvement. The entire compartment of the mailbox is constructed of Electro-galvanzied steel, 4 to 6 gauges heavier than comparable mailboxes. The doors of the mailbox are constructed of Electro-galvanzied steel, 6 gauges heavier than comparable mailboxes. The top and sides shell of the mailbox is one piece, 16 gauge steel, and solid protection against theft, vandalism and weather. The top door handle and hinge are stainless steel, heavier and superior to comparable mailboxes. The entire finish is powder coated, which is far superior to comparable mailboxes. Each major part is powder coated separately for maximum protection and durability. The pedestal post is constructed and powder coated for superior strength and protection. The prefabricated anchor is included, and unique to the letter locker mailbox assembly. The overall design and appearance is unique and superior to all other comparable mailboxes. Convenience for the mail carrier and owner, security for the mail, protection against vandalism, and a durable lifetime mailbox is the ideal we all hope for. 摘要： A signal flag apparatus is disclosed for use on a mailbox wherein a door operably connected to the mailbox is selectively closed and opened to permit and block access through a doorway to the interior of the mailbox. The apparatus includes a flag section having a pair of spaced-apart support post portions and a flag element that extends between the post portions. There are a pair of spaced-apart clip portions that detachably engage the mailbox proximate the doorway. There are also a pair of spring portions, each of which integrally interconnects a respective post portion and clip portion. The spring portions permit the flag section to be retracted within the mailbox and held therein by the door while the door is closed and urge the flag section to extend out of the mailbox when the door is subsequently opened to indicate that the door has been opened.

摘要： A mailbox delivery signal apparatus includes a signal assembly coupled to a detection assembly. The signal assembly has a signal mast attached at one end to a wheel biased to an upright position by a torsion spring. The wheel is pivotally mounted on a hub attached to a housing attached to an outer surface of a sidewall of the mailbox. The housing includes a stop for engaging the signal mast and preventing further rotation past the upright "mail present" signalling position. The signal mast is maintained in the down "mailbox empty" signalling position by a spring biased pin which engages a detent recess formed in the periphery of the wheel. The detection assembly includes an arm pivotally mounted within the mailbox which arm rotates when an object is placed in the mailbox. The arm is coupled to the pin so that rotation of the arm moves the pin out of engagement with the detent recess in the wheel, permitting the torsion spring to rotate the signal mast to the upright signalling position.

The article comprises a housing for holding the components of the device, with the housing itself attached to the mail box. Mounted on the housing is a hub assembly comprised of an axle which extends through a side wall of the housing, a first disc rotatably mounted on the axle within the housing and a second disc rotatably mounted on the axle outside of the housing. The two discs rotate together. An arm extends from the first disc and has a lateral pin extending at a right angle from one extremity. A slide link with an elongated slot is slidably connected with the lateral pin of the arm. A bracket pivotably attached to one extremity of the slide link is intended for permanent mounting to a door of the mail box. A signal is fixedly attached to the second disc of the hub assembly. The signal is moved to a vertical position when the door is opened and remains there until disengaged by the owner.

摘要： A signal device for attachment to a rural-type mailbox provides a visual indication to a remotely located observer that the box has been opened for insertion of mail. The signal device comprises an elongated, flat, flexible arm including means at one end for adhesively attaching the art to the inner surface of the hinged door of the mailbox, and a brightly colored signal flag at its free end. The configuration of the adhesive juncture of the arm with the lid is such as to facilitate flexing of the arm with minimum stress upon the adhesive layers, whereby the arm can be manually bent over and inserted into the mailbox upon closing of the lid. When the lid is subsequently opened and closed for mail delivery, the arm assumes its normal, erect position with the signal flag displayed outside the box.
