    • The invention relates to a method for thermally treating agglomerates in a number of successive handling zones in a reactor. According to the invention, the agglomerates are continuously fed to a feeding zone, are dried and heated in a drying and heating zone arranged downstream from the feeding zones, and are combusted in a combustion zone arranged downstream from the heating zone. In addition, the agglomerates are cooled in a cooling zone arranged downstream from the combustion zone, and are withdrawn from the reactor in a withdrawing zone arranged downstream from the cooling zone. A combustible gas mixture is fed into the reactor in a gas delivery zone which is arranged immediately in front of the withdrawing zone in the direction of movement of the agglomerates. Said gas mixture is ignited in a combustion zone and is withdrawn from the reactor as waste gas. The invention also relates to an installation for carrying out the method. Using the inventive method, high-quality agglomerates can be combusted in an especially energy-efficient manner.

    • PURPOSE: To form a desirable flow in the melting bath by move a arc to the appointed section in the melting materials while compensating undesirable influence of magnetic materials to generate a local heating for a melting bath. CONSTITUTION: A ringed copper conductor 1 which forms a part of anode is provided in the arc furnace, and cathode 2 which is adjustable in vertical direction is positioned at the upper center of the melted material 6. A fireproof insulating lining 7 is provided at the bottom which is made of steel, and this bottom is wound with conductor 1. The conductor 1 is such provided as to surround the graphite brick which is located at the lower position of the melted material 6, and the ringed lining brick consisted of conductive fireproof material 4, that is carbon-magnesite, and lining mass 5 made of magnesite which contact directly to melted portion 6 and located at the center of the furnace. Thus the electric current, which distributed symmetrically, from cathode 2, and eliminate the refraction caused by external magnetic field, by the copper conductor 1 which is a part of anode, and arc is emitted toward melted materials.
