    • 400,830. Padlocks. ROBINSON, G. C. and JONES, T., Combination Works, Willenhall, Staffordshire. Feb. 25, 1933, No. 5768. [Class 44.] A padlock of the type in which an apertured cover is pivoted on the casing to retain a paper seal when the cover is closed up and engaged by the hasp of the lock has the casing and cover formed by pressing hot blanks in suitable dies. Fig. 1 shows the cover 13 and casing 10, the hasp and lock mechanism being absent. The cover blank shown in Fig. 2 is heated and inserted in the die 17, Fig. 3, for pressing by the die 18 to form the upstanding edges 14. The metal at the edge parts flows outwardly to form thin fins 22 which can be engaged by ejector pins 23 for removing-the pressed-out blank ; the fins 22 are subsequently removed and the thin web 25 formed beneath the projection 24 of the die 18 is cut out to form the aperture 16. The dies are tapered to facilitate withdrawal. Specification 354,574 is referred to.
