    • The object of the present invention is to provides a novel polyhalogenomethylsulfonyl compound which can be used for providing a thermally processed image recording material which has a high sensitivity, gives less fog, and has a good stock stability and a good image storage stability of dark and high temperature or light storage. According to the present invention, there is provided a polyhalogenomethylsulfonyl compound represented by the following formula (1), or salts thereof, or hydrates or solvates thereof: wherein Z1 and Z2 each independently represents a halogen atom; A represents a hydrogen atom or a halogen atom; and R1 represents an alkyl group having from 2 to 12 carbon atoms, which may have one or more substituents, an alkenyl group having from 2 to 12 carbon atoms, which may have one or more substituents, or an alkinyl group having from 2 to 12 carbon atoms, which may have one or more substituents.
