    • Disclosed is an apparatus for wrapping paper on a cylindrical drum for use in a recording or reading system. The apparatus includes a roller for pressing the paper wrapped on the cylindrical drum. The roller is disposed in the vicinity of the cylindrical drum and in parallel to the axis of the cylindrical drum and is supported by a pair of roller-supporting plates disposed facing each other. Also included is a connecting rod disposed in parallel to the roller. The connecting rod penetrates a through-hole made in a substantial center portion of each of the roller-supporting plates and is supported by a pair of rod-supporting plates disposed outwardly with respect to the pair of roller-supporting plates. A lever is mounted on an end of at least one of the roller-supporting plates, which end is opposite to the other end where the roller is supported, so that the roller is rotatable about the axis of the connecting rod with the operation of the lever. The pair of roller-supporting plates are biased by a pair of springs so that the roller is pressed toward the cylindrical drum.

    • A process for excavating and constructing a tunnel, and an excavating device are disclosed. This process is directed to excavating and constructing a tunnel under a railway or a road on a banking or on level land in the direction transverse to the railway or road. In this process, pits are dug on the opposite sides of the railway, and then an excavator digs into the wall of a pit on one side so as to go out of the wall of the other pit through the ground left therebetween. In this respect, a hollow casing unit of a box shape is coupled to the rear end of the excavator equipped with a screw conveyor. As the excavator advances or digs forwards a given distance, another casing unit is in turn coupled to the rear end of the preceding casing unit, and then such a step is repeated, until the excavator goes out of the wall of another pit. In this manner, the excavator further digs into the wall of one pit in the position adjacent to the preceding run of casing units. Then, these runs of casing units are placed around the imaginary contour of a tunnel, thereby forming the outer wall of the tunnel. The sand and soil inside the outer wall of the tunnel is excavated and removed, after which reinforcing steel bars and a mold are placed along the inner surface of the wall of the tunnel. Concrete is then poured into the hollow casing units themselves as well as between the mold and the wall. Thus, the hollow casing units form an integral part of the wall of a tunnel, as an outer wall.

    • In a blower for compulsorily circulating a laser gas for a gas laser apparatus, a shaft (2) of an impeller (1) is fitted with an intermediate member (66) that rotates together therewith, and rings (641, 642) are fitted individually in annular grooves (651, 652) formed on the intermediate member (66). On the other hand, a bearing holder (60) for holding a bearing (5) that supports the shaft (2) is provided with a ring holder (63) having an inner wall kept normally in contact with the respective outer peripheral surfaces of the rings (641, 642). As a result, narrow axial gaps between the rings (641, 642) and the annular grooves (651, 652) prevent gaseous impurities from getting into a gas laser circulation path through a bearing (5).
