    • To provide a process for recording an image using a photoelectrodeposition method having high general-purpose properties that require no restriction on the selection of a material used as a substrate, a process for recording an image having (A) arranging a substrate 10 comprising a support 11, a conductive film 12 and a photosemiconductor thin film 13 laminated in this order, in such a manner that at least the photosemiconductor thin film 13 comes in contact with an electrodeposition solution 20; (B) applying an electric current or a voltage to the conductive film 12, and simultaneously irradiating the substrate 10 with light from the side of the photosemiconductor thin film 13 through the electrodeposition solution 20, and (C) generating a photoelectromotive force on a light irradiated part, so as to form an electrodeposition film 21 on the light irradiated part. The process for recording an image further comprises, if desired, (D) transferring the electrodeposition film 21 onto an image retaining substrate 40, such as ordinary paper.

    • The image recording process comprises the steps of preparing an aqueous coloring material liquid by dissolving or dispersing fine particles of a coloring material in an aqueous liquid, disposing an image supporting member and a counter electrode opposite thereto in the aqueous coloring material liquid, applying an electric current or an electric field corresponding to an image pattern between the image supporting member and the counter electrode, electrochemically depositing an image forming material containing the fine particles of the coloring material on the surface of the image supporting member thereby forming an image, and transferring the image forming material, in a condition where the image forming material contains 20 to 60% by weight of the aqueous liquid, onto a recording medium so as to record the image on the recording medium. This process, which is highly safe and simple, makes it possible to obtain a high-quality image by improving the transfer performance of the fine particles of the coloring material.

    • A voltage is applied between a first and second electrode, the first electrode being immersed into an aqueous solution in which a group of two or more dyes having different polarities, and including at least one dye able to be independently precipitated from this aqueous solution by an electrochemical reaction, are dissolved and coexist at a specified pH, and the second electrode being provided so as to cooperate with the first electrode in causing the electrochemical reaction, thereby forming a first mixed color image which is composed of the group of dyes, or another mixed color image whose colors are different to those of the first mixed color image and which is composed of the group of dyes, or a single color image which is composed of a single dye on the electrode. Thus, it is possible to realize a high quality image using dyes and safely and simply record an image at a high levels of flexibility. It is also possible to adjust the density of an image easily, and reduce the effects on the environment and energy consumption.
