摘要： A hand-held and operated pneumatically powered device for injecting fluids, such as in medical applications, consisting of a housing that is sized and shaped to be hand held, and connected power and infusion assemblies contained within the housing. The power assembly includes a sealed vessel containing pressurized gas, a lever-needle vessel-puncturing mechanism, a gas flow path leading from the needle to the infusion assembly, and pressure regulator and pressure relief mechanism (which may include a pneumatic flow control orifice) interposed in the flow path. The infusion assembly includes a two-way valve for exhausting the gas or directing it into a power chamber for receiving the gas connected in tandem with an infusion chamber that holds the infusate, a two-headed piston contained within and spanning the two chambers with one of its heads in contact with the pressurized gas and the other in contact with the infusate, and a throttle mechanism at the outlet of the infusion chamber for regulating the pressurized flow of infusate into and out of the infusion chamber by means of a two-way valve. A pressure gauge may be provided for measuring the pressure of the infusate.In one embodiment, two power infusion devices are coupled together with a common pressurized gas source and are also coupled together at their outlets for providing two different infusates to the proximal and distal ends of a catheter. A ball valve is utilized to purge the infusates of entrapped gas.

摘要： An endoscope comprising a reusable eyepiece and a disposable distal section mounted on the eyepiece in a predetermined angular orientation so that light can be conducted from the eyepiece through the distal section and an image can be conducted from the distal section to the eyepiece. Image conduction is accomplished, in part, by a somewhat resilient, nontubular image-conducting rod. Focusing is accomplished by a focusing ring which rotates, but does not translate, on the housing. The distal section is adapted to be at least partially received within a patient and can be introduced by an introducer attached to the distal section.

Prior to the application of energy, the phase end point determination is identified by measuring the product of permittivity and conductivity of the tissue to be treated. An electrosurgical system can include an electrosurgical generator, a feedback circuit or controller, and an electrosurgical tool. The feedback circuit can provide an electrosurgery endpoint by determining the phase end point of a tissue to be treated. The electrosurgical system can include more than one electrosurgical tool for different electrosurgical operations and can include a variety of user interface features and audio/visual performance indicators. The electrosurgical system can also power conventional bipolar electrosurgical tools and direct current surgical appliances.

摘要： A tissue welding apparatus is adapted to fuse a first piece of tissue to a second piece of tissue which are disposed in a surface proximate relationship. An elongate shaft carries a first jaw, and a second opposing jaw moveable relative to the first jaw. At least one penetrating member is carried by the first jaw and moveable relative to the second jaw to create a channel through the first piece of material and the second piece of material. A source of heat is coupled to the penetrating member for denaturing the tissue defining the channel. This denatured tissue forms a column binding the first piece of tissue to the second piece of tissue. A chemical agent can be carried to the tissue with the penetrating member.

摘要： An angioplasty catheter for increasing the patency of a body vessel by altering an obstruction in the body vessel includes an elongate shaft having a proximal end and a distal end. At least one electrical conductor is disposed at the distal end and movable from a low profile position to a high profile position in proximity to the obstruction. A non-distensible balloon disposed between the conductor and the shaft is inflatable from the proximal end of the shaft to move the conductor between the low profile position and the high profile position. In the high profile position the conductor can be electrosurgically energized to ablate the obstruction and thereby increase the patency of the body vessel. The conductor may include a circuit which is printed on the exterior surface of the balloon. An overlying insulation layer can be provided with a slot to limit the exposure of the conductor to the obstruction thereby increasing the current density in the electrosurgical procedure.
