摘要： A combined alarm and test and drain valve (1) for a fire sprinkler system has specific modifications for draining the system and allowing for flow through a specifically sized orifice under conditions simulating the flow through a sprinkler head having the same orifice size. Fluid flow occurs alternatively under a first set of test conditions in a system alarm test mode of operation, and under a second set of fluid drainage conditions in a system fluid drainage mode of operation. A mechanical force is provided by a spring (8) and a hydraulic force is provided by a pressure diferential. When performing the system alarm test function, the valve (1) opens a first size outlet opening (9), and when performing the system drainage function, the valve (1) opens a second size outlet opening (2), larger than the first opening (9).

摘要： A deformable mechanical pipe coupling is disclosed. The coupling has a plurality of interconnectable segments that straddle the ends of pipe elements to be joined. The segments have arcuate surfaces that engage outer surfaces of the pipe elements. The outer surfaces subtend an angle of less than 180~ and have radii of curvature greater than the radii of curvature of the pipe element outer surfaces. The segments have adjustably tightenable connection members for connecting the segments to one another. When the connection members are tightened, the arcuate surfaces deform and conform to the radius of curvature of the outer surface of the pipe elements.

The method includes providing pipe coupling segments each having an initial radius of curvature and an initial subtended angle. The segments are each deformed so as to take a permanent set and have a final radius of curvature greater than the initial radius of curvature and a final subtended angle smaller than the initial subtended angle. The deformed segments are assembled in end-to-end relation using adjustably tightenable fasteners to form a coupling. Mechanical couplings receive the studs of opposed ends of adjacent pipe sections to join the pipe. The couplings may be formed in two or more arcuate parts which mate to form a complete ring, or stab-type couplings may be used, and suitable gaskets cooperate with the couplings to form pressure sealed joints.
